Default WHAT IS THE SECOND BEST (AFTER STANDARD OEM ONE) DUMP VALVE ???

Hi. After I've read all threads and posts on here and other forums about DV's, I was wondering what will be the best of aftermarket ones ? I know that OEM one is the best to run but have to admit that I like that "pssstt" sound a bit. I just bought a BRAND NEW standard recirculating one that I will be fitting at the weekend (Baileys one fitted at the moment).

So, is there any other DV worth it to fit that will work as good as OEM one ?

Oh, my car is V2 STI approx 300Bhp

I have no idea but would think surely they would increase lag...? If your venting the pressure to the atmosphere after each gear it have to work that much more to build the pressure back up?

Out is somewhere article on which arguing with this:
The job of the DV is to keep turbo compressor spooling to reduce turbo lag.
Dont worry about over adjusting the DV, you cannot damage the engine at all, All the DV does is take the boost air away from the charge side of the turbo and dumps it on the intake side of the turbo each time the throttle is lifted.
If there was not a DV in the system the turbo would stall / stop spooling each time you changed gear, because of the boosted air hitting the throttle valve so the only place for the boost to go is backward into the turbo via the compressor wheel.
An over adjusted forge split-r DV could give you added turbo lag.
Hope this help.Too many people, too many answers on this question.
Some DV(like Bailey) have bad influence on Subaru fueling,AFR etc.

Ok, so other words the best DV will be recirculating one, not VTA as Baileys for example. Which ones of aftermarket Dump Valves are recirculating then ? Will they work as good as OEM one ??

Hi there you can ask/PM here Harvey for adapter from New age to classic, and then apply New Age Recirc on your classic.

Ok Thank You guys ! I'll stick with the OEM one and see if any changes to car's behaviour. If not happy with, I'll try something different like Forge or similar.

I've tried four different VTA's on the P1. As follows:

1) HKS SSQV mk3 - sh1te, car ran rough and threatened to stall almost every time I slowed to a stop. Good sound though. Removed after 1 day

2) Turbosmart Ultrasonic (as far as I remember) - good function/compatability but just too loud for my liking and ultimately sounded like a bus. Removed after a week

3) HKS SSQV mk1 - far far better than the mk3 with regards to compatability with the car (presumably down to the higher quality internals compared to the later versions) but it was still noticeably unhappy with it. Removed after 3 days

4) Forge VTA (mounted to TMIC) - fabulous build quality. Good sound, car runs perfectly with it on. Been on the car for 8 months

Changed my standard for a Bailey, ok but took it off in favour of the standard one eventually, caused more problems than it was worth. now got hks ssqv and its ace. Definitely the best. Car drives perfect and not missed a beat. Can't get a better dump valve for range of noises.

All bov's that are fitted to a maf based car will cause overfuelling unless mapped for it. Mine use to pop and bang with the blitz fitted, but the recirc is what the car was designed with ,and will operate better than a bov due to the metered air always being accounted for. When you lift off the gas with a recirc the excess air is fed back into the inlet, helping to keep the turbo pressurised. With the bov the air that your maf has already calculated for, is vented to the atmosphere so the ecu has to account for this as there is less air entering the compressor, and sends more fuel, but after owning a baileys ,a forge ,a turbosmart,a gfb,and a blitz bov, i can honestly say that there is no performance advantage to be had by fitting a vta dump valve - only slight overfuelling and a noise + pops & bangs imho .
Out of all the vta's I had fitted I preferred the blitz,as it was louder than most and you could change the sound with the sus filter provided. It was also adjustable unlike the baileys, forge & gfb. Also considering that vta don't contain complex parts the blitz was really well made. Dispite this I did notice much smoother gear changes with the STD recirc valve fitted and that's what I have stayed with

Yes fella, except mine is the v5/6 one which has a flange mounting to bolt straight on to the top mount.

Yep, looks good though, got one on mine now with the front mount, was mapped with it on and seems fine so will hopefully continue that way.

What is wrong with the Bailey bov i have had one on for a couple of years and had no problems.I was thinking about just putting original one back on do they affect fuelling that much. Also taking HKS superflow off and putting box filter back on with upgraded panel filter in.

If you go back to standard recirc you will notice the difference...
