Default GT35R on a standard 2.5

Has anyone done this?

Would it make 500bhp @ 1.5 bar boost?

you would have to be bloody brave!

350 tops i'd say...others may differ in opinion. You have to remember its a power vs reliability game...

I think the standard pistons are not supposed to be great. Def wouldnt want to take them to 500bhp!

Chuck some "drop in" forged pistons in in and see how it goes. I think it would cope.

Stock pistons will be the downfall, everything else would probably be okay.

For a while anyway

OEM ECU will run as many bar as you like. You can always change your map sensor. I have always done my own car mapping and lots of other cars too.

My advice is just do it.

P.S. I am running 1.8-1.9bar with my 60-1 turbo and 2.0L stock block. (Engine has done 200 000 kilometres (124000 Miles) so far..)

Seems no has done it, gonna head over to the yank forums see if anyone on there runs 1 as they love bolting big turbos onto stock engines lol

If i keep it at 1.5 bar and change from a gt30 to a gt35 how much power increase will i get currently at 450.

thanks.

Heaps of US guys chuck 35s on stock motors, but then they dont care about lag or running an over size turbo for the power required.

Stock block with a 35r capped at 1.5bar and on a very conservative tune i think you would probably be alright...

For a while

im in the US now, and after speaking to a few people here, they just about touch 350 bhp with a gt30 - as the octane levels are really low.

I'm "accidentally" running 2 bar on my 2.0 STI with a GT3076... It's enough.
A 2.5 may be able to spool a bigger turbo quite well, but why if you can't use it where it's performance is better, I.E. High boost at high revs.

IMHO

1.5 bar on a gt35r and a 2.5ltr block will be more than 500bhp. I know dazdavies did this for a short while and had his running at 450bhp but it wasn't great for the engine.
