Non Turbo MY04, Things to Look Out for?
Good morning peoples,
After purchasing my non turbo, i've been reading about faults with the turbo version that can/will happen over time
And i was just wondering, what are the more common faults to go wrong with mine?
I do know about the rear shocks being a common fault though
Ta

Can I ask what is the attraction of a non turbo Impreza? I'm not trying to be sarcastic, just wondering because they aren't particularly attractive or cheap to run in terms of fuel and servicing.

They're not ballistic quick like the turbo's but they still are an entertaining drive.
With the same AWD security/handling it's bigger brother shares.
I started my Impreza journey with a 2000 Sport...and it was a great fun car...just not quick enough!

Looks is relative and down to taste, but with all cars, with a little tweeking, aesthetics can be improved dramatically.
As for running costs, my GX ALWAYS averages 30mpg or more, which is a good deal more than what most of my friends running turbo's say they acheive... My insurance is 75% cheaper than the best quote I could find for a standard Turbo 2000 - and that includes all the modifications I've made, fully comp.
To be fair, the tax bracket is the same which is a little frustrating but no more than any other 2.0 petrol car.
Servicing would be undoubtedly cheaper due to a non-turbo being naturally driven less "enthusiastically" and having less mechanics on the car to be replaced or "go wrong".
I hope that answers your question anyway mate, and as stated, a lot of people find non-turbo's as a step towards turbo ownership and being part of the Subaru brand.
