Subaru Newbie
Morning peeps,
Recently purchased myself a 54 plate standard WRX. I was having concerns after a week of buying about the rear struts (sounded fine on test drive and first few days) so i took it to the Subaru/ Fiat garage in Chippenham wilts for a health check. They gave it the once over and confirmed the struts are knocking but went on to list a few other problems. The turbo is noisey, drive shaft oil seal is leaking and one of the brake sensors is faulty. Needless to say im p~*sed with that. Any suggestions on places/ people to give me a second opinion? Ive been a Honda man for the last 10yrs and new to the turbo/ torque scene
Any help greatfully received.

Nice one mate
So, can i just go for a more powerful turbo without the need to remap?
If i just go for the AFP4H can i just bolt on and go from there?
Loving the help guys, much appreciated.

Hi
It was a trader, ive got a warranty but its not worth the paper its written on! It covers "failures" as opposed to "failing". Oh well, these things happen, just got to save some cash and start sorting it out.

Very calm of you
Facelifted WRX's MY05+ got the inverted strutts and suffer the same issues as all STi's with knocking strutts. Turbos are pretty cheap, especially if you exchange for a hybrid Andy Forrest Jobby for c.300bhp. Oil seals are pretty cheap, just the labour normally

Im at a point where short of going round there and getting myself in trouble i might aswell just get on with it.
Ive looked into the Buddy club coilover route and will probably go for those when funds are in place. My main concern is the turbo at the minute, from what i can gather if that fails then generally its game over for the engine? So can i use that AFP4H without any other mods?

I will see where i stand legally, in the mean time i will keep doing more investigation into improving the car from what is a lovely motor to drive. i came from an EK9 and ATR which were sold to buy the WRX so completely different ball game from what im used to!
