Default advice problem with wheels bearing/dshaft

hello i have a my00 uk spec running 340bhp classic shape what the problem is last night was having a bit of a sprinted drive up the dual carriage way when i got to 80 (i mean 70) there was a strange noise comeing fron the nsf wheel area pulled over nothing loose but just the normal play in the shaft same as the other side........
i have changed my dshaft before as has a simular problem but turned out to be a buckled wheel. anyway when my friend changed the drive shaft he ****ed the pin thing up that you have to tap in/out which holds the dshaft on the spline (the gear box end) any how he when he refitted the dshaft he just put a bit of metal and a bit of sealent to hold in place could this be the problem>? bare in minfd it has been like this for 8months or so and never had any problems all advice welcome thanks reguards

Have you checked how secure the bodge now is? If it were me, I'd be dealer bound for a new roll-pin.

the wheel bearings are a double row angular contact ball bearing so you wont feel any play in them untill they are on the point of colapse and you will of heard them long before that
