Default Which fuel type?

Hi everyone,
I've just bought my first Subaru (03WRX Sportwagon) from a friend who's had it from new. I was quite surprised when he said he's run it on standard unleaded ever since day one. Will anything happen if I change to super unleaded from now on? Sorry if this one's been asked loads of times before but I couldn't find it in the forums. Many thanks for any advice.

Default fuel

If it's spent the first 7 years of its life on 95 ron and survived, i can't see the point in changing to 97 ron.
I take it it's a UK car

From what I understand (which is very little!) it would be better to run it on a better fuel but not completely essential. It may be worth seeing if you can get the ECU reset just so you start from a clean slate and start using the better fuel (again not really essential as the ECU should start to take notice but this could just speed the process up).

Disconnect the battery for a few hours and this will reset the ECU. But why change UK car no mods 95 RON is fine and cheaper.

Thanks everyone for your input. It is a totally standard UK car. Having never used super unleaded in any of my cars(they've all been a bit crap untill this one) I was wondering what the benefits of super unleaded were? Will it make the engine run any better? Is it just a cleaner petrol?

The car will be smoother, increase performance, give better fuel economy (unless you put your foot down due to the better performance ) so yes, its the best mod you can do for your car and you dont have to declare it

+1

I get around 40-50 miles extra per tank out out of the 99 ron for only £2.50 and much smoother if I need it
