The octane rating of petrol degrades as it ages. That petrol will be pi$$ poor after sitting for one year, and will deffo cause knock.
If i was you i'd run it till dry. Then simply top up when you want to fire the 'ol girl back up again.

Either syphon it or remove get someone else to do it.

If I leave any fuel in my lawnmower over the winter, it won't start come spring. As soon as I put fresh stuff in: away she goes

find the fuse that controls the fuel pump -- hot wire it whilst removing the fuel pipe to the engine - and just let the fuel pump pump the petrol into petrol cans

this how I removed 35ltrs of petrol from my diesel Audi the other day

I'm guessing the average scooby driver wont have a clue where to start with that, me included

It would be fine to start and run off boost until the old fuel is used up. I have personal experience of doing that. Just dont be tempted to press that pedal too hard as you will get detting. My knocklink went crazy (red light and 60+ reading) on old fuel, so despite what PSL says, it does do what its designed for.
