Default Best Oil to use for a 99 STI

It's coming up to my next service on my MY99 STI V5. At the moment I have been using Silikone 5-40 performance oil.

The oip Oils recommended this oil. But on previous threads I have been reading that 10-40 is best. Like millers.

It wouldn't be a bother on the engone to change oil form one vicosity ti another?

is your car heavily modified? 10 - 40 semi/fully synthetic if it's not.

I should of mentioned that in my first post.

Its not modified at all except for the exhaust. So I should use 10 - 40 which will have to be millers as I can't seem to find the silikone one.

Hi

Was asking this question myself about 2 weeks ago. I run a 99 Sti with no mods except the exhaust.
Ive just put 10/40 semi-synth in after trawling the posts for an answer. I intend to change the oil every 4k and won't be running the vehicle hard in the near future. Millers 10/40 fully synth did come up as the oil of choice but couldn't get hold of any locally the weekend I wanted to do the change.
If you are running the car hard or doing track days then everyone who posted thought 10/50 was the way to go.

Just out of curiosity KINGTIGER, have you had a re-map for UK fuel?

Nar I've not had a remap. I've been told that I'll be ok with remapping it. But I would benifit more if I do.

Also if I do more mods then I have to remap deffo. But as my car is a V5 i would have to replace the whole ECU which is big bucks lol.

You wont have to replace the ecu if its a version 5, these are the first ones you can map the ecu with, if it were a version 4 you would be screwed
