Crazy driver advice......?
My normal route to work takes me through a few miles of country lanes. Yesterday morning as I was leaving my village a woman in an old'ish grey Saab pins herself to my tail lights so close I couldn't even see her headlights from the rearview mirror. I wasn't in the mood for some fun so I just carried on. Now I'm following my Missus, who is a nervous driver at the best of times, and I was worried that if the crazy woman glues herself to my wife's car she might panic. So I go into defensive driving mode and leave a larger than normal gap before the bends and then just accelerate from the corner. I didn't brake test her (good job as I've had a big brake kit from AP fitted on my car and it stops on a sixpence!!!) or anything else dangerous. Anyway the tactic works and the Saab remains behind me until we get off the country lanes.
Now a friend of mine has just tokld me that the brother of the Saab driver is a policeman. If he is the vengeful type I can probably expect a pull. Do I: 1) accept the pull without arguement; 2) argue the reasons for my actions and rely on common sense; or 3) take the initiative and go and speak to the policeman first (I know where he lives)?
Any advice would be much appreciated.

I think you're probably being a little paranoid mate if I'm be really honest. Chances are if she was that close she wouldn't have got your REG number anyway, nor have the mental capacity to remember it.

You guys might be right but the fact that she remembered enough to speak to the wife of a friend in the village where I live suggests she might not have forgotten it?

Like stated, i bet you dont get pulled. The coppper will have better things to do, besides he probably knows what his mother is like.
The highway code states that if someone is tailgating you, you should pull over and let them pass. saying that, if this happens again i would take down the womans reg and report the matter to your local neighbourhood police team, asking them to have a word regarding her driving.

Thanks for the thoughts!

I wouldn't worry Nigel. Despite the crap you read on here, most cops have better things to do than deal with uncorroborated reports of perceived careles / dangerous driving.
Those brakes are still good then................
