Lots...........the STi has better engine, drivetrain and brakes. Properly looked after the STi is almost unbreakable (well, almost LOL)

Stronger internals, stronger block (Semi closed) bigger turbo, AVCS, six speed box, brembo brakes......

tax is the same bracket and depends on year, insurance will be more for the STi.

Don't be put off by the WRX if that's all you can afford, some cheap mods and Dynamix type remap gives 250 BHP, low spool and decent handling

Even the WRX outruns 99% of the rest of mainstream cars LOL

looking at a few now and PH
i will be going for the wrx model bugeye/blobeye. as they both do look nice.

for the wrx what sort of cheap mods are they available?

such as a exhaust system with decat. How much am i looking at for this?
and a coilovers? second hand wise?

for example...
would this be a good base?
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1808984.htm

guessing high mileage on a scooby isnt something to worrry about?

thanks

any common problems with the wrx?

The one above has been for sale for a while but a bargain go bite his hand off its not already sold. He is a member on here and so was the previous owner to did all the mods. Well done car dont let the mileage of that particular one put you off. PM Koncept ( I think ) see if its still available. Plus of the above is already had the goodies and a remap. The new exhaust etc will 9/10 want a remap which will add another couple of hundred on top straight off.

Good luck with the seach. Im looking to buy soon although seen a nice blob local for 5.5k which can knock down a bit. . . but alas no cash to buy yet!!

Dont forget buyers market, if you buy modded make sure its been mapped properly!!

Sure the peeps who know LOADS more will post soon!

Can normally get away with cat back, although if you want to to get a decent panel filter?CAI, decat etc etc then will need a remap, could even do with a uprated fuel pump for it too. Check out scoobyclinic for packages and see whats involved and costs etc.

Best check everything out as although these are built well still got to be sensible. Same with BOV all the above on newages need more care.

Again the guru's will be here when your ready!

so your saying
if i change to a open cone filter
or get a decat
or a bov
i will need a remap?
i can understand a remap to get the best possible gains of the part but surely shouldnt be that bad to run it on standard map as it surely carnt be that far out on afr figures.
but im a scooby noob lol

how much is it for a remap?

If you're genuinely interested in a WRX, I have an MY03 Blobeye WRX profesionally modified to 287BHP, only 48k miles, fully documented FSH that I would sell within your price range.

Looks nice that. Whats the spec to get it to 287? Is that proven? Looks a nice buy if for sale within the price range.

My son, who is going to work in USA next month, is thinking of selling his 2004 (04) WRX before he goes. The car is black, 40k genuine miles, immaculate condition, full service history, tax and test until next April and totally standard i.e. it hasn't been messed around with. The car was mine from new until last year when I got my new hatch. He's looking in the region of £6.5K, if he decides to sell.

I would be looking to sell for £5500 (no offers) if anyone interested, I could price it higher and sit and wait for a while but as I have my eye on my next car I think this is a very good price for the spec.

I have owned the car since November 2006 and it has 2 previous owners.

Just been serviced and inspected last Friday, the only thing that will need doing in the near future is the front brake discs, but I will get this done before any sale.

That looks really nice and tidy and all right bits and an AF remap not bad too bet she drives and pulls well. Should be moving in my new house in next couple of weeks, then my old man is buying my Range Rover P38 4.6 V8 off of me so will have the cash then. . . . so may well mes you see if this is for sale. Just need to convince the wife that red would be nice as she wants the WR blue for some reason!
