Default Oil Change Small Question - 4ltrs enough?

Hope this is a simple question for you guys.
Did a 6mth oil change on my MY99 STI and went for 5W-40 Mobil One. The oil came in a 4ltr pack and the garage did the change and said it was OK but usually the Impreza takes just over 4ltrs. We checked the dip-stick and it was a little down from full but nothing dangerous so I was told.
Can I run the car like this or should I buy another 1ltr can ASAP and make sure it is full to the top? Probably only half a litre more?

Buy another asap and fill it to the correct level and keep an eye on it weekly.

Don't go to that garage again as they sound like a mickey mouse outfit! Go to a recommended specialist on the forum.

So that is half a litre extra if I have already put in 4 litres right?
Thanks for the quick reply. Will do it in the morning.
Actually living out in Japan at the moment.. importing the car when I return next year.

Can't see it being a major issue, as when doing a change you'll still have some left in sump, not much though. And filling with 4ltrs will be ok, as long as it has some in there, scoobs don't like being over filled as have boost problems if you do.
Scoobs do breath quite heavy so you'll be loosing some, again this won't be a lot but some lose. I'd fill it to just under the full mark, to save any issues of boost.

But as above, why didn't they advise to get some more in there.?

Honourable san talk plenty sense. If anything watch the viscosity of the oil chosen, when it comes to winter in the UK (if you're back over by then?) Sometimes the old 10W oils can help the EJ engine on those cold mornings.
So can we order some cool JDM bits through you and not have to pay stupid shipping costs (It was worth a try).

I'll pay for your next few oil changes if you bring me back an A-line spoiler in your hand luggage....

Get a list together and give me some decent info on where I may find them and you never know :-)
I went out and bought another litre of the oil at an expensive 2000 yen (about £15) :-(
They did say it took just over 4 litres but when they put it all in the first time and it nearly got to the top of the "full" mark I thought I would be a cheapskate and save £15! Decided my engine was worth more than that so added 500ml and saved the next 500ml for the next change!
The Mobil 1 seems to work well "touch wood"!! So many opinions going round about oil I am not going to get into that ;-)
