Default Changing MAF sensor - easy?

Hi people,

What is needed tools wise to change the MAF sensor on a 2000 MY GC8 WRX?

I am overseas and have limited tools available. I presume it's a simple job, but armed with a handful of generic tools is it still easy?

Thanks in advance.

Yep, they are security Torx screws. The MAF is bolted to the housing rather than being part of it. Can't remember what size torx it is off top of my head, but something like this is what you need. Other than that it is very easy, make sure ignition is off, unplug sensor, undo 2 torx screws. Then withdraw the sensor, I find a very small flat blade screw driver helps with levering it out as there is a rubber 'O' ring on the sensor that holds it in place pretty snug. Then just put in your new MAF, bolt it up and connect the plug.

Cheers, was hoping to do a friend a favour, but don't have a torx driver here and a fat lot of good my toolbox being on the other side of the world is going to do me LOL!

Will get the stealer to do it when we pick up the part as should only be a 5 minute job.

Cheers guys.

All sorted with a friendly Subaru dealer who changed it in 5 minutes and the car is now well again. No more hesitation on boost and no more check engine light.
