5.5-6k to spend
Hey Guys,
I have never considered a Scooby before but seriously considering it now. My question is what would you enthusiasts recommend for 5.5-6k?
I am assuming I am into 2002-05 WRX territory, but anything else I should consider?
Thanks

buy the STi not the WRX. Trust me on this one. slightly older but much better base car for modification.

yeah, you can get a bugeye sti with that budget.
although i loved my bug wrx, i knew i should have bought the sti after about 6 months of ownership.
although it all depends on what you want.

Although I agree with what u guys recommend on here, I would say don't dismiss the WRX..
Depends on what for and how often it's gonna be used .. some people prefer a 5 spd box over a 6spd.. I have had WRXs and an STi and prefer the 5 spd. STis are a lot more FULL ON and stiffer, but power isn't all that different .. WRXs from 222bhp standard to 262bhp ( with Prodrive Performance Pack ) and STis from 262 bhp standard to 302 bhp with PPP.
Also Saloon or Wagon? Wagons are often dismissed but so much more practical for everyday use if you chose to go for a WRX but have the same drivetrain, platform etc...also more stealthy
Anyway , welcome and good luck.

Thanks guys!
I would love an STi but I think the insurance would be killer, I have at the moment lost my NCB due to an inconsiderate HGV damaging the side of my current car and denying all knowledge.
So with that in mind was looking at a WRX which I can insure for around £800 fully comp (I'm 30) If anyone has suggestions on insurance I would again be open to suggestions
With regards the PPP, should you be looking to get some paperwork with the car to substantiate this?

Try for an STi still mate.
Get some quotes from A-Plan, Adrian Flux, Greenligh, Sky, Keith Michaels.
Don't pay over the odds for PPP either. A few easy mods to the car will get more power than the PPP for cheaper.

I have spotted a couple of cars on Auto trader and decided to look on Confused for quotes. The crazy thing is the price is no different between an STi and the WRX, what is even stranger is it costs more to insure a car with a tracker ????

Also does anyone have a buying guide for Imprezas? I am keen to know common faults etc and what to look for on inspection.

I have had a 2003 WRX PPP for the last 18 months now and love it to bits. Sometimes I yearn more power but I am satisfied overall. The good thing with the WRX is that it doesn't attract as much attention and you'll be surprised at how many people are unaware of the power it yields. Especially as you smoke them at the lights.

Post any links to the cars you find here............ someone might know the car itself or have an idea what's been done to it. easy to chop and change bits to make WRX's look like sti's etc.
