hello
i have had a similar problem with my 2006 wrx, took it to get checked out was told it was fine, changed drop links, still knocking, i was told that sti springs do not fit wrx but to try whiteline or prodrive springs
i am now in the process of fitting a whiteline anti roll bar and bushes, if that does not sort it i will probably go down the line of fitting new springs, plenty of hed scratching still to do

That's probably your rear struts, just had mine replaced today, and the knocking has disappeared

I have an 06 WRX STI. Apparently it's a common problem on the hawkeyes. Not sure exactly mate sorry, the dealer said "rear struts" and costed about £1000. Luckily mine has extended warranty so didn't have to pay anything.

Yeah, does it knock at low speeds? Mine was knocking at slow speeds, but not at higher speeds.

No expert, don't like diagnosing by email, but sounds like rear shock absorber - known issue.

Have a look in the technical forum, suspension, pages and pages on this.
