Ask one of the resident tuners on here about getting yours re-mapped mate. I can personally recommend JGM as per my signature, there are a number of good ones on here!!

hi mate, the z4 as far as i know was for the model year 94-96 so it wouldnt start ur uk spec 98.Best thing is to contact a tuner as mentioned above JGM,
Advantage for your car is you can map your existing ecu (ecutek software)
Think basic mods i.e exhaust, filter, walbro fuel pump and maybe bigger turbo (ihi) would give your car decent power after the remap
hope this helps

S reg would mean it is a 97 (had ht leads not individual coilpacks) the z4 ecu will not fit as that is a 93~96 model year compatible ecu, so I presume you tried an sti ecu for 97/98 which won't start as cam and crank and fuel pump pins are different to stop you running it as so much is different you will damage the engine running it.

can't get better imho than motul 15W50 300v competition.. I wouldn't run 5W30..

it could overboost, it could run lean, 98 uk should in theory be okay though decatted

td04 will push max 280bhp, td05 more like 340bhp..

so with a set of injectors and remap decat etc 300~320bhp.. with fmic then maybe more etc

If you don't get the car remapped, no advantage at all, it'll either be worse or potentially push the engine into an unsafe and unsustainable performance envelope (i.e. you'll eventually break your engine).

If you take care of any necessary supporting mods, get your car mapped properly for it (or, if you have a 97/98 model year car, fit a mappable ECU), then you'll be up around 310-320bhp.
