Polishing Your car.

Polishing Your car.
Hey,
As the weather is getting better, I'm thinking of polishing my car. So as soon as I get my issue with my sideskirt soughted I'm going to do it.
Now all I need to know is the procedure in which to do it in.
Basically I:
Wash Car
T-CUT it
Apply A good wax and buff it in.
I will be doign all this by hand as I don't have a buffer machine. Want to try and get rid of some light stratches and such to.
Is there a better way?

I rinse mine down thoroughly with a power jet washer.
Apply a good shampoo.
Rinse gently with hosepipe.
Apply conditioner.
Rinse again.
Leather off with quality chammie.
Remove NumberPlates.
T Cut - one panel at a time. Polish off.
Autoglym Resin Wax all over, allow to dry - buff off.
Apply AutoGlym Extra Gloss polish all over.
Leave for 90 minutes.
Grab best duster and polish off .... luvverly jubberly .... takes about 5 hours to do right.
Re-Attach NumberPlates and then start on the interior.
Wash and Power Wash Engine bay.
Remove Alloys, clean inside and out - apply polish and buff off.
Re-Attach Alloys and spray the Tyres with silk wet look.
That's about 9 hours to do a decent job of it - anything else is just skimping!

Hello.
I have ten years valeting experience and would not use t cut by hand to do a whole car (especialy on a hot day) its very hard work to get off.
A good product is farecla G3, its a polishing compound which is far easier to take off, it will also bring out scratches much quicker.
If it leaves swirls where you have rubbed G4 will remove them.
Other than that yes a good wash, G3 then a high quality wax.
You can buy farecla products in most car shops.
I hope this helps.

You should consider claying the car before polishing, look in the car care section and follow the guide by Polished Bliss, you then cant go wrong, they also sell some quality products.

Thanx for your advice will give it a go. It was polished last when I had rust work done last year.
So will look into the G3 stuff and the clay as its been mentioned by a collegue at work. So what do you peeps think of Meguiers

Meguiers do great easy to use products, but like most things there's always something better out there. I find with the stuff you buy off the shelf (cheaper) that you can still achieve a good finish but it doesn't seem to have the protection of the specialist products you can get so you end up using more of the product more often. You can even get polishes and wax's that suit your colour

Ditto, but I got a guy coming to mop it and polish it next week so may just clean it before then. I can't believe some of the work people put in, full respect to you, I just can't find the time but I will make the effort once I see it gleaming again.
