Adult College...
I'm 22 and want to study mechanics but i'm 101% confused.
I want a qualification that is recognised by companies and i just can't find the information i need.
I want a course that looks into depth, taking engines apart etc... but i don't think college covers this.
Anyway my point is everything is ****e lol and does anyone know anything that may help me?
Thanks

Not only is my name also Sam, but I am also 22 and also wanting to study Mechanics and in the same boat as you. I'm entirely confident working with cars and will quite happily whip the engine out of my Pulsar (again) in a number of hours - but I'm confused about where to go and what qualification I need.

I'm 17 and just about to finish my level 2 mechanics course. Tbh I wouldnt recomend it as it's mostly health and safety. I've only ever stripped down an engine once and that was because I came in on an open day on a Saturday! It's good if you want to learn the really basic stuff. Most of the stuff I just learn off here though and just working on my own car. The benefitt is I can take my car in, fix punctures and set my tracking for free I also wontbe able to do level 3 in college as I'm struggling to find an apprenticeship

don't know course you are on, but when i went to college, engine strip and rebuild was in level 1/2/3 just more in depth the higher the level you are in, i do agree about the health and safety that it takes up some time, unfortunately that's part of curriculum.

Think ill look into it, sounds good. My college has always said that motorsport colleges/courses are the same as the normal ones, it just try's to make them sound better. Are they much different? Sorry to knick the thread

You could try typing in motorsport engineering course into google and you will get a load of degree courses (assuming you have the entry GCSE's etc) alternatively contact your local FE college.
