Default remap tommorow

Hi

Im having a walboro fuel pump and my car remapped tommorow at api, really cant wait now.

Ive recently had the engine rebuilt by david and his team after the bottom end sh@t itself on a rolling road day. This will be the first remap ive ever experienced and im looking forward to the drive home to see how much of a difference it makes to the power and torque, im hopefully looking at 330-340bhp with similar torque, il be really pleased if it makes this power, ive been running it in for the last month and a half and its starting to get a bit boring now, just want to get in it give it some welly.

Il post up the rolling road results tommorow for anyone that might be interested.

Thanks Tristan

Well i didnt get on aswell as i thought to be honest, i expected my car to make in the region of 330bhp, api's mapper was struggling to get any more than 285bhp to begin with, there thoughts were that either the maf sensor was playing up or the turbo was on its last legs, the maf was checked and found to be ok, after a few more runs they managed to get 299.7 and it was left at that as they decided they could get no more power from the engine,

david then took the car for a road test and returned with the news that it had a missfire, so a new set of plugs were fitted, another run proved it wasnt the plugs, next the coil pack was found to have a burned terminal, so a good second hand coil pack and leads were fitted, another run and its no better with a new problem, a slipping clutch, by this time its gone five, so we decided to call it a day.

I spoke to david about the missfire and he said it could be a boost spike, causing it to fuel cut, and to try a bleed valve and bleed away some boost to see if that works. my boost guage has a memory function and is showing a peak of nearly 1.8 bar, so tommorow im borrowing a bleed valve and trying that, hopefully it will be that simple.

All in all it wasnt that enjoyable, as my budget is starting to go through the roof and i litterally got no money left to fix it now, on the upside it did drive really nice and pulled like a train until the clutch slips and starts missfiring. anyway better get saving now for fixing the bloody thing.

One thing about rebuilding is it rarely goes smoothly and you need a big bank balance

Sounds familiar...

My STI clutch gave up before my re-map at around 360 ft.lb.

I had to delay mine till I could get an evil paddle fitted.

Good luck with it !
