When I got my my99 uk car I drove to scotland in it 2-days after buying her.I never took her over 3200 revs around 85 mph but I was very tempted, but as you no, all good things to those who wait.
DONT LET THE ENGINE CRAWL A LONG AT LOW REVS IN HIGH GEARS.(LABOUR)

Collected my MY02 over a week ago and the handbook clearly states - do not exceed 4000 rpm except in an emergency, do not brake heavily (unless in emergency) and do not keep the engine at low rpm for the first 1000 miles of bedding in. Also it states do not drive at one constant speed. These rules applied to my previous Imp Turbo three years ago as well, I followed the rules and that car served me very well

All valid points -
Keep below 4000 rpm
Don't slog/labour in high gear
Vary revs on the motorway
Brake gently
Use clutch gently
Then at 1000 miles get the oil/filter changed and go for it
Enjoy

I've always been told to drive between 2000 & 4000rpm, so don't let it labour below 2000rpm in higher gears and don't drive beyond 4000rpm ever, do not accelerate/decelerate too harshly at first, do not drive at a constant speed for too long, etc...
Basically be sensible for about 500 miles on a new engine and it will bed in nicely.
It also doesn't mean that the second after the speedo trips 500 miles, you instantly drop it a couple of gears and hit the redline!
After 500 miles, gradually build it up to full throttle and full revs for the next few miles. Then, drop the oil after the first 1000 miles and your car should have a long and trouble free life.

Agree with what the others have said...
At 1000 miles, a new Scoob is due it's first oil service.
Until then:
- keep it below 4000 rpm (3500 if you can ).
- don't sit at the same rpm (on motorways etc) for too long.
- don't labour the engine (eg too high a gear when going uphill.)
- don't brake heavily until the brakes are fully bedded in.
General stuff (inc. after the 1st service):
- avoid handbrake turns (unless you have an lockable diff.)
- no two wheel towing (you'll be very unlucky to break down anyway.)
- watch out for lift off oversteer
- warm up before blasting
- let the turbo cool down (engine on idle) for a couple of minutes before switching off
