Cool

Turned up at Well Lane to sort out the next Rolling Road Day yesterday and there was a big TV thingy going on for Granada Men & Motors, pitting various cars against one another on the rollers.

I'd just gone to watch really, and hoped that I'd maybe get a chance to go on.

Well, this chap shouts out, "Who's is the white Subaru? They want to film it!"

So they put me on the rollers against a lovely black Supra that was supposed to have about 350bhp.

Well in the end he got 323bhp so, having previously hit 320, I was hoping to win , but I only managed 314 in the end (although I did get 321 on one run but that wasn't filmed). Warmer day than last time though

They told me to claim I had 330bhp so it would sound a bit closer, but I was fairly pleased to almost equal a 3 litre twin turbo motor, especially seeing as I started with 208 and the Supra has 320+ standard.

Think he saw 350 odd on one run, but he'd have been disqualified for that run as it was more than 20bhp than he claimed to have, so they obviously chose to omit that

The program goes out in May sometime and it's called Father "something's" Talk show.(told me but I forgot) It's on for 13 weeks and they do 2 cars every week. I'm on about week 4. No idea when it's on exactly, just gonna keep my eye out for it.

Don't know how I'll finish it the listings but hopefully near the top to keep the Subaru end up!!! You'll be able to hear my car on full chat on the rollers, so it's worth watching just for that!!

Cheers
Rich

Well Lane aint famed for having the most accurate rollers!!!

Have you ever had it RR'd anywhere else?!

Still an impressive figure though!

Cheers Guys.

Barry does the runs now Damian. He was the one who did the first ever RR day that we went on there.

No Rich, never been on another RR, but thinking about it in the near future. I've heard allsorts about Well Lane but I reckon If a decatted P1 is getting 290-300 on them they are about right.

Oh, btw just found out it's called REVEREND BOB'S TORQUE SHOW.

(Just shows how good my memory is)

First episode is Friday 3rd May at 10pm (so I'm told)

WATCH THIS SPACE!!!!!!

Cheers

Hi Dave,

What did that Carlton get in the end?

Looked like it had serious power with those huge zorsts and the Lotus kit on it.

Did anyone else get over 300?

Last time I was there (a while back) it was an Evo vs Scooby RR shoot-out and a guy I know turned up in a 450bhp Skyline!

Man... you should have heard that thing being wound up on the rollers!!!

He got a flame out too.

bob t - why do you state rollers are wrong?
why did you get 94bhp? what car?
just interested cos i've run 3 shootouts so far at well lane, and can say that we have generally seen fair figures throughout.
ie: a std boost gti-r at 227bhp
std import GT4 (241bhp model) made 243bhp ( had de-cat)
porsche 928s (310bhp std) made 301 bhp (168k miles)
5 or 6 gti-rs with 1 bar made 270-293bhp. (accepted is usually 285bhp ish)
265bhp scooby import made 263bhp
340bhp cossy (harvey engine) made 341bhp
all of the above were club members cars, done on the shootouts we had.

we are back there 7th april, with 25 cars, results willbe on our chatgroup afterward if anyone wants.
I've no connection with well lane, dont claim they are good/bad/indifferent, but i have found them to be reasonably fair and consistent overall.

the viper and a 450+ bhp skyline will both be at our day on the 7th, will be intersting to see what they get.

To confirm what 200+ said - they are the only ones that have given me some consistency

Mods and increase speed on the road have equated (as expected) to increased power on their roller

Rich - your car looks like a washing machine...hahahaaaa

There were no girls unfortunately

Wouldn't have minded Jakki draped over my bonnet

But my missus was there, so it's probably just as well or there would have been hell to pay.

Steve, a washing machine Love it! That's why my clothes always smell so fresh then
