Default FAO Dunx

I joined the 2 BAR club on my standard motor today...was crusing on the motorway in 6th, planted foot to overtake and got some overboost! No sign of det on the knocklink

I think it was the combination of 6th, heavy foot and cold weather.

View my garage for the spec, it's had a couple of mods. The car's been mapped for 1.6 BAR, but it hit 2 BAR on boost spike.

No worries mate, I wouldn't want it to run that boost on a daily basis but it did feel good. The car won't have been doing much more than 3.5K revs when it hit that too .

My modding path has been long and more expensive. If I was doing it again, I would forget fitting ported headers and gone straight for the GT Spec ones with Harvey up-pipe, as the ported standard headers maxed out at 372bhp on my car.

These priced are from memory, but give an idea:

MD321H £1500
Hayward & Scott exhaust £500
GT Spec II headers £500 (inc wrap)
Harvey GT Spec up-pipe £150
650cc injectors £300 (from Nengun)
Lateral turbo inlet hose £200
Inlet manifold spacers £80
FMIC inc fitting £600
Zero sports thermostat £50
Labour (multiple trips to garage) £1000
Mapping (multiple sessions inc original ECUTEK licence) £1000

You could save a lot by fitting all the stuff at once.

I think it was closer to 2.1 BAR on the Defi's...enough to make the torque feel really nice

Yes i ran the standard up-pipe for about six months, then heard of Harvey's GT spec up-pipe. It gained me 300rpm better spool and that meant an extra 50bhp and 60lbft at 4000rpm. Peak bhp was down on the day by about 5bhp, but that could be anything.

Here's the graph:

First time I managed a "technical operator error".... but it pulled like a crazy thing, just the twice, once with KojaK in to show him how it went

Second time I split a boost hose on the M62, the Monaro passed me shortly after as the Phormula went crazy and I backed off instantly.....

2.1 stroker build next for me, to allow 2 bar all day

Yeah, a noticable difference that you can really feel low down. The up-pipe came with new studs for the turbo too
