Hampshire Driver fights for life
#1
In Portsmouth News today:
'A motorist was today fighting for his life after his car plunged off the top of Portsdown Hll'
It was a blue MY00 or MY99 4 door driven by a 37 year old from Fareham who is in a serious condition - critical but stable.
Police said 'the driver had been overtaking another vechile when he lost control' ....'We believe he (the other driver) is totally innocent'. Lets all be very careful out there and hope this guy recovers fully.

Fort Widley is by the Churchillion Pub, going up Portsdown hill (old A3) turn left at the top, there is a garage on the right after about 1/2 mile then a pub, then the Fort. But the report said he hit the barriers and then went off the side of the hill; but there arent any barriers there to my knowledge.

The reason for my renewed interest, was a bloke in my customer's office came up to me and said 'the car you drive has been in our local news recently, seems one crash'.. Anyhow basically, more was said, and he seemed to imply that the concensus was that said driver was speeding/at fault.
So i showed him your post here BROOKS, and he backed down.
But, I was also concerned about the well being of the guy that crashed, as it appears he was 'thrown from the car' when he crashed, and narrowly missed going over the edge of a 100 ft clift by all accounts
Hope hes ok.

I too would like to know that this guy is ok, but can find nothing. Dr Evil the report said that he was found clear of the car - suggesting he may have been thrown clear. Gary F - the report in the paper was confusing because it said he hit the barriers and then went off the road - but I dont recall there being any cash barriers by Fort Widley - maybe my memory is going?!
