About to but a uk 5 door but which one?. both are same spec and have offered identical deals on trade ins. which if ant is better buy????

Well you've not said the price but I'll assume around £11k. Anyway obviously assuming the cars are both good I'd go for MY99. Much better brakes, phase II engine (not as many piston slap problems, slightly better power), bigger spoiler and minor nose change... Also theres a chance that there is some warranty left on the MY99 and that can be extended with IM if there is.

If they are really in identical condition then like Jon has said I would go for the MY99 even though it got slightly higher mileage as its got the phase 2 engine, better brakes and possible warranty. Just make sure its got a FSSH. It only really high mileage that affects resale. Most dealers wont give you much for low mileage but use it as a plus when the sell one

difficult my98 has almost 1/2 the number of miles, but would need to up grade brakes.

If the MY99 has warranty left go with this and extend it for 2 years, but remember no mod as it could/will invalidate warrenty

Pay absolutely no attention to mileage on a scoob! Except in terms of which servise is coming up, in which case a 45k.
