Default am i doing something wrong

Guys and girls need some help.

i have had my mk1 t25 up for sale for about a week if not a little more on here and pistonheads. i have got over 1000 vies on this forum alone and no ideas how many on pistoheads but i have only had 2 / 3 questions reagrding the car.

is it just the time of year?
am i asking too much for it? i have said open to offers
or is it as it is a bit of a limited / specalist car have i got the timing wrong to sell and anyone who would of been looking for one is now waiting to get xmas out the way and will be on the hunt early part of next year.

could do with some pointers as i could really do with letting it go, so any help, advice would be great

thanks

steve

Fair comment but 1000 hits and not real interest was my main concern and that is on here where i would of expected a few more takers than pistonheads

quite simply, without looking at the adverts in question....

If you needed a sale by now then you priced it too high.
If it was priced right then it would have sold.

economics 101 unfortunately.

There will be people who have had cars up for sale for a while now who will say that the market is slow, prices are tumbling, hold out for a sale.
True, to a certain extent.
How did you establish your asking price?
Was it by looking at other ads and pitching in?
Ads, that haven't sold yet?

You need to ascertain how badly you need to sell and act accordingly.
however, and this is equally important; if you do not need to sell up quick then continue to hold out and see what offers come in and deal with them on an individual basis.

Personally, I fecking hate "offers" adverts you know what you want for the car so ask for it

These type of Scoobies will only appeal to a very limited no. of people & you just have to wait for that person to come along. Even reducing a little wont make much difference, unless its dirt cheap. My friend recently sold his Spec c after almost 5 months IIRC, but he stuck to his price pretty much.

thanks penuts i appreciate your honesty. its catch 22 mate, i need it gone due to work commitments etc as i could do with the money in the bank at teh minute but at the same time i can afford to pay for it for a few months but after that unless work pics up and gets a bit mroe secure then i will need it to go, so hence why i priced it at what i paid for it a few months back as i have spent some money on it since getting it and on the back of that 03/04 type 20/25 are up at 13k so thought an 05 would be worth around 14-15 so popped it up at the highest as you always get people wanting to pay less than what it is advertised for. i bloody hate selling cars as it is only really worth what someone is willing to pay i guess, just need to find someone who is wanting to buy one lol that seems to be the problem

thanks

Yup
  • Lose the Mk1 aswell, people know what it is and it makes it sound older than it's years.
  • Personally I think it was a mistake losing the CF rear spoiler as it's all part of the T25 'image' for me.
  • In terms of selling it on SNet I have read your posts which don't necessarily make me wanna buy one, nothing remotely personal in that, but purely from a kerb appeal. perspective
  • The SNet forsale ad takes you to a possible sale thread you need to make it as easy as possible for people to part with their cash and I think you need to try harder
  • Additionally, I don't like this paragraph ... 'look at what you could have won' items.
the rear spec c spoiler for a high level spoiler -
the white pff's to a set of standard sti alloys in anthracite

  • I would also be more assured of it's performance... I don't want to read...
changed the 2 port to a 3port boost solenoid and tweaked the map so it may now be running slightly more but i am unsure as it has not been dyno'd.

Nice car but you can do more to make it appeal more to buyers

I think i,m going to have the same problem mate,i,m selling the White P1.Granted i,ve only put it for sale on the P1WOC,but so far 1194 hits, loads of interest but no buyers as such.I think it may be a lot of things as said above,i.e limited market for specialist cars, time of year etc etc,i think i might just end up keeping it.Luckily i,m not desperate to sell,i just fancy a change, and i,m not that desperate to sell that i,ll put up with timewasters,i,d sooner keep it.

Did the earlier T25's not have the spec C as the base as in later models ?
I couldn't see the distinctive flap. Apart from the kudos of being a T25 the power levels of the earlier cars (if they aren't spec C's with the weight benefits) are now competing with more easily tuned hawkeyes to the same level of power and more without the same price tag.

I think your car is worth what your asking, just needs better positioning amongst the alternatives.

I pick up on what Peanut said about 'OFFERS' ads. they put so many people off .... I certainly wouldn't (and don't) follow up 'Offers' Ads.

Everyone knows that you know how much you want - so state it, is my opinion.

I am having the same problem with my hawkeye as i have modded it reasonably and sensible.

However it narrows the target audience a bit, however i have mine advertised on here, SIDC, Scottish scoobies .net and pistonheads for over 2 months.

Plenty of shi*e P/x deals and a couple of derisory offers tbh i DONT need to sell it but i have the 2 year itch and fancy either a Forester STi, New Focus RS, BMW 535d, Audi Q7 or even BMW 335d.

I have lowered it to what is a very competitive price i think and am willing to wait a few months to see what happens, this is a bad time of year for selling, good for buying though.

Goos luck.

Mac
