AF turbo exchange
Can anybody explain how the turbo exchange works at AF,i'm thinking of getting a TD05 20G (like i said on my other thread) and i know i wouldn't be able to use my VF35 on a exchange basis but what could i use?
Would i be able to use a TD04 of a uk classic that a friend said i could have as a exchange? It would save me quite a bit if i could! spare cash for the headers
Thanks
Bernie

Any exchange I've done (not just car stuff) is like for like.
You are essentially paying for the reconditioning of the item rather than outright purchase to keep costs down.
if you want an exchange AF 20g then you'll have to give him a 20g in exchange.
What on earth would he do with a TD04?

I thought it was a case of part exchange you standard TD05 for a 20g and pay less than you would for the 20g out right. That way Andy can recon you TD05 to a 20g and resell on.
Its not a like for like exchange.

That's all a significant cost before even thinking of a profit on top.
If a non 20g arrived in the post as an exchange turbo then the cost of a new compressor housing would have to be factored in.
I can't see the difference between giving him a VF35 over a TD04 - he'll want a TD05 unit that will have some salvageable parts to use in the next recon unit.
Perhaps someone has experience of doing an exchange with him?
Nick

It is as mickywrx says, he uses your TD05 exhaust housing, so you can send up any old 16g, snorkel or FE but within reason - ones with cracked housings will be rejected.
I'm sure he wont mind if you send up a 20g or 18g for that matter, lol

Ahhh ! This thread explains the sudden upsurge in turbo exchange emails !
As mentioned above, for exchange TD05-18G or 20G I would need a TD05 from a 93-96 car.
TD04 hybrid needs a TD04 from any 93 onwards car. VF turbos are no use for either I'm afraid but they usually sell on here for £200-300 depending on miles.
cheers
