Default how can I prevent stealage?

hello.

I'm just about to buy me first scooby. Its goin to be a 2003 wrx. Its also goin to be parked outside on the street. How easy are they to steal? Please suggest devices I need to minimise the risk.

ps. I live in Crook, county Durham and the neighbourhood isnt bad but you never know..

Also, do they have fold-in mirrors so buses cant take them off?

many thanks, Steven

Yes the mirrors fold in.

If it is a UK car it will have CAT 1 security built in which is good. For the newer cars they tend to steal your keys so keep them out of sight.

I also have an autolock on mine and keep the key seperate. They aren't a lot but a visual deterant like that can make a big difference.

Enjoy the car though and don't worry too much!

In short, you can't!
You can deter a theif but if they want it, they'll get it no matter what security you have.

disclock plus blackjax anti hijack kit. lets them take it but they will only get down your road before cutting out, even WITH the keys. also if you are forced out at traffic lights it automatically activates. worthwile bit of kit for piece of mind and not overly expensive

get a house alarm. all the security on your car is useless if they only have to pop a window open on your when your sleeping and knick the keys.
at least with a house alarm you will be woken up to fight em off.

true, but blackjax along with your house alarm should be ok as even if they bypass your alarm and you are woken for the keys, they wont get far

Well tracking system (400 quid), full decent cat 1 alarm with anti hijack (450 quid), disklok (60 quid) and you should be pretty sorted

No good if you leave it in the footwell as per pic FPMSL

Good idea tho, have often wondered about quick release steering. How much?

Fantastic comments/advice/'suggestions'(scoobyman1982!!) everybody..

If I assume the motor comes with the CAT1, Ive already got the house alarm, so along with the disklock I think I'll be buying that dipol gearlock. After all that, and they still take it, they've earned it!

cheers everybody, I think I'm gonna enjoy bein part of you lot..
