Just a quickie question regarding the above.Do you guys who have them keep them plugged in all the time? The reason i ask is because i have recently purchased one and kept it plugged in and it has drained my battery.I didn't think it would be using any power with the ignition off (except for the clock).

Yep, Plugged in all the time and presumably only draws current for the clock and the ROM that stores the defaults and values.

Never had a problem with a drained battery....have you got a tracker fitted ??

Is the tracker faulty........sometimes they fail to go into "sleep" mode and drain the battery

Yeah i am trying that at the mo but i just wondered if everyone else leaves theirs plugged in.It works perfectly but like you say it could be faulty and taking power that it shouldn't be.Thanks for replying anyway

mine is permanently plugged in and i've gone as many as 3 weeks without driving my car and had no problems with a flat battery.

Dont have mine anymore but did have it hard wired rather than plugged in. Makes no difference to current draw. Just really an indicator that the psi shouldnt drain the battery. i could leave it for several weeks without any problem. are you shaw your batteries a good un

Cheers Aaron.I haven't had any probs until i plugged this in so it seems its either pure coincidence and the battery was knackered anyway or the monitor is taking power when it shouldn't be

i didnt like having the plug sticking out all the time/ its pretty easy take the plug to bits theres only 4 wires from memory in there. Work out which wire goes to which pin and connect them to the wires on the back of the socket i used scotch locks on the back of the socket and didnt have a problem for the 3 years i was using it like that. Leave some wire on the plug (6 or so inches) so you can re-connect it if you want at a later date

When you say your tracker (Trackstar?) is OK, how did you check it? Mine caused me much grief by draining the battery until eventually I had it replaced under warrenty. My PSI3 has never caused a problem.
You could disconnect the negative terminal at the battery and put an Ammeter in the circuit. With the Tracker in sleep mode, there should only be a few mA draw on the meter. Also disconnect the PSI3 and see what difference it makes?

Mines never been a problem leaving 3 plus weeks as someone mentioned. I don't have the clock set on mine, so nothing is displayed when the power is off. Not sure if that makes a difference.
