Newbie's Wife wants to repalce her 306 Gti
With "Something more Sensible"!!!!!
She wants either a Scooby or an Evo,
Please could you guys advise whats best for her to look for.
Bugdet of around £6-£7k 4dr pref
Must be reliable and semi sensable as we have a 5 year old and the Dog!!!
I know its a rarther random question but you have to start some were.
I think she would prefure the scooby

unless you fancy having the dog on the back seats of an Evo or impreza saloon, it looks like a wagon will be more sensible; which also rules out a new shape STI, if I'm not mistaken.
For which 6-7k should get a fairly recent (blobeye) clean WRX wagon (which may also stay cleaner if the dog goes in the back); not as hardcore as an STI, but perhaps a more rounded car ?

yep, if you're taking the dog, get a wagon as the rear seats in the newage saloons are fixed and can't be folded down like a normal hatchback. should get a mint blobeye wagon for that budget

Thanks guys for the quick and sensible answers. I think She's leaning towards the Scooby as some one said. Its less hardcore standard. Although I work in a garage I have herd Evo are very partial to being serviced!!
Looks like were looking for a wagon.
Should we stay away from imports??
Thanks

Not sure I could tolerate the sub 20mpg from an evo... (I was concerned for a little while that going from my '99 wagon to a type 25 would be much worse, but it wasn't)
EU imports should be fine if serviced properly. No idea about JDM WRX wagons, probably scarce due to the general smaller numbers of wagons bought.
Have you thought about a forester s-tb (or whatever they're called) ? Same chassis, slightly different state of tune and handling. Forester STI comes highly recommended, but probably too pricey.
There's not many wagons about, from looking at Pistonheads and prices in general on used cars look solid...

I'd say go for a late classic ver6 STI wagon and get it remapped as soon as you get it.
There is a yellow one on the Autotrader at KTC, I wouldn't touch anything from there with a bargepole though. There aren't many about but will be in the cheaper tax band as 1 they are pre 2001 and 2 are an import so tax is about £190 a year

Just been looking for insurance for it.....wow it's expensive, are there any specialist scooby insurers out there??!! Is at an import? Also what sort of MPG do you get out of the Wagon?
Thanks.

MY bugeye WRX wagon - perfect for lugging my drumkit or kids around - can get anywhere between 250 -300miles on a full tank of V-Power or Tesco 99 (all depending on how heavy my right foot chooses to be!).
