Default Noob to scoob:Hello

Hi all, I'm new to scoobynet, thought I'd pop in and say hello.
I'm planning on purchasing a classic shape Impreza turbo in the near future, I've just missed out on a lovely P1, but I'll bounce back, I am not very educated on Impreza's however, and I know with high performance vehicles, you really have to put alot into keeping the car healthy and just generally ensuring a good drive, so... I was wondering if anyone could help me on the following...

-Does anybody know of any P1 models for sale at a very good price?
-Where is the best place to take it for a rebuild if need be?
-Good experiences with inusurers on Scoobies.
-Any other helpful advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for reading.

Welcome
PistonHeads.com :: Speed Matters is a good place to look for a P1 or the P1 owners club, BUT only buy a P1 if thats the car your after, otherwise look at the type R's which are a higher spec than the P1 but a japanese domestic market car, more fun for less money

p1 imprezas fetch good money so you'll be looking at 9k+ for a good one..have a look on piston heads. if you needed a rebuild for any reason there are lots of good places to take it, scoobyclinic,RCM,API ect...to name a few, insurance wise try A-Plan or Keith michaels.

Right, I'm glad you've raised the point up on the type r's being a better spec than the P1because I was under the impression (only from what I've read) that the P1's were packing more 'humph'.
I'll look on PH for either of the above.

Be warey of high mileage P1's. They like to go pop from what I've heard. Then again, most impreza's like to go pop!

API impreza for engine rebuilds, my experience with them has been good. Keith Michaels insurance is the most competative i've found.

Any other advice? Hmmm? Oh yes, be prepared to spend.

Yeah, I've deliberated on the thought of owning a scooby for a long time, the preperations of spending on it are all in place and ready to roll, I've heard great things about API Impreza, I may just buy a high mileage one, so I get the car for less, then just have a rebuild, it would depend on what I see and when I see it I guess.

I can recommend them to as I had my classic WRX re-built by them last year and 9,000+ miles later still going strong. Excellent service there.
