Default problem fitting boost gauge

What is it best to wire up a boost gauge as i have done the following:-
orange to lights
red to 12 volt
black to earth

i have fitted it to the fog lights but it doesnt work right
when i turn the lights to dip beam the boost gauge comes on but if you turn the lights on full then it switches off
also there is no change in the light from ignition to when you put the dip beam on.

just put into the lights mate you only need power and earth that way if the lights get power so does the boost gauge mate
or alternatively try wiring it via a cool looking switch board mate like a toggle
hope this helps

Think I tied mine into the top outer 2 on the switch.
Use a multi meter to test it takes 30seconds to do, mine come on with the side lights ie fed from the lamp inside the fog light switch.
Fixed live your best usign the stereo, red lead I think.
