Default whats the widest wheels to fit to a classic ?

right due to now discovering my tyres dont fit on my car im in the moment of thinking,,,,, should i go to 18ins wheels and huge brakes or stick to 17ins wheels ?

the thing im worried about is the offset of the wheels that subaru seem to have, whats the widest wheels AND largest 18ins or 17ins tyres i can fit before major body mods out of interest ???

17 or 18 any wider than 215 and you may get rubbing on the arches. Can go to 225 if you get genuine prodrive wheels with the right offset.

Coilovers, top mounts, standard struts ? They All play a pay in what offset or width wheel you can run. I found the max without arche work with 17's on the GC8 was 17x8 ET35 but this was using topmounts and coilovers with a 215 tyre, so working back from this depending on what you have fitted now.

17's will always work better imo on the standard chasis GC8.

want to go for bigger brakes now so prob gonna have to go for 18ins rims now,, but worried about clearence due to the offset ( knew i should have got a evo)

Strange - I never had any rubbing running 215/45/17 with my car lowered maybe 30-35mm. Saying that, I never went round the carousel! It did get pushed very hard on the road though.

Do you know how much the coilovers are lowering the car from standard at the moment?

Wont an 18'' rim with a 215/35 tyre be the same radius as a 17'' rim with a 215/45 tyre?
I had a set of 18s on mine with 215/35 and they did'nt rub or catch or anything, i changed the rims (put the same tyres back on) and i needed the arches rolled. Incidently where i bought the new rims from said i had the correct offset for my car and that my old rims which DIDNT rub must have been wrong

I have the 18" Prodrive Alloys on my P1 with standard suspension (not lowered....) and the 225 wheels rub..........

In the process of getting a descent price to change them to 215........
