Default Thinking of buying a classic!

Im seriously toying with the idea of buying a classic impreza (STi) my first scoob was an o5 uk sti which was written off by a hit n run t*sser last week .

I was wondering if anyone could give me there opinion and experiences with the range of classic STi's

Im liking the v5/6 type r's in sonic blue or white but could be tempted by another, so if anyone knows of a mint, preferably standard car 4 sale give us a shout, cheers

I have a 95 WRX 300bhp and its my first classic. I have owned new ages before and still have a hawkeye.
The classic is really good fun (when it works) but unlike a lot of people I long for a bugeye again.
I would rather have the classic then no scoob but if you can stretch to a bugeye IMO get that.

sorry I meant insurance comes under a uk car as it was
Sold from uk Subaru maindealer. I insure mine for £750 with all mods stated, I'm 27 with no points and 5 years ncb. Yes the do suffer engine failure but in my opinion no more than the same year sti due to the weak maf issue but most would of been rempped for uk fuel and if not even better with simtec or similar which gets rid of the maf. Look out for one which has had a engine rebuild by a well known tuner and you won't go wrong such as I did. Ha might even sell you mine for the right price or I think gav who goes under turbogav is selling his at the minute for 8k on here in the general section or jump onto p1woc.com or co.uk there are normaly a few for sale which should of been looked after but you will need to register to look on the site

ok this is again just my opinion but i have test drove a wr1, 05 sti and 05 sti ppp and i thought all of them felt slower, more bulky and top heavy and i found they understeered more than any classic i have owned. the classic feels rawer with more grunt and my p1 feels even better due to a full decat, pannel filter, fuel pump and a remap by bob rawle think it runs around 320-330 and similar torque if not a little more. again dont quote me but i am sure you need to run around 50bhp more in a newage to gain the same feeling due to the weight so you would need 370bhp'ish newage to feel the same as my p1. a type r or p1 would be my choice but i would go for a 99 -00 plate due to revised front end, crystal lights and a better dash, all that can be added to an older version but you may as well get it all in rather than spending time and money but that is your choice. not to sure where you are located but i am in berkshire and you are more than welcome to come and take a look for yourself. all this is my opinion some people may think i am wrong and others will agree at the end of the day it is your choice so i would say try and test drive one or two to see what you think

Its not been posted on here because I'm not a paid member, I don't get on the net that often so didn't see the point in paying for membership if I'm not on here that much, but hey ho!

I'd be tempted to go for a P1 if you were planning on minimal modification.
Such a great car as standard. Mine runs about 320/330bhp with Ecutek/Filter/DeCat and it feels spot on. I also have a 22B but to be honest I prefer the driving experience in the P1- it's miles ahead on our country roads plus unlike the 22B/Import STi's you get a better ratio'd gearbox for a road car.

I have only driven an 04 WRX to compare but have been a passenger in a few Newage STI's and the Classics do feel a lot more involving and as said "Raw".

It really depends what you are looking for tho as the newage cars are also superb (as I'm sure you know...) I would love a Hawk or Bug STI

Good luck with the search bud!!

Cheers for the info guys much appreciated
Im torn between the p1 and 05 blob STi jdm, they've both got pro's and con's personally for me , its not a bad situ 2 be in i guess.
Another thing y r P1's so differing in price in some cases 5 grand 7k-12k (standard)
I might post a thread and see if someone in Essex can take me for a spin in there P1 and see how it goes
