Just had a play with a black Vauxhall Corsa in the Halifax area, i have a Bugeye WRX with a few mods and the Corsa almost kept up with me especially out of the corners and I wasnt holding back!

Corsa-C with a Z20LET probably. 200+bhp depending on turbo and mapping.

They are quick little cars. What colour was it. I am a CCUk member so could find out what car it is.

Fastest Corsa C from factory was the 1.8 sri and that in standard form is not that quick. No way could that keep up with a wrx, so imo it would definetly be modded. Most likely a turbo'd lump.

Is yours a classic or newage? what's yours running atm?

The older corsas can fit other big Vauxhall engines like calibre ones etc. Its a fairly common mod from what I understand. Its the same as MK2 golfs that put MK3 VR6 lumps in them.

A while ago I was driving through a 30 that ends at some lights and then goes right onto 2 lane national speed limit. All the way through the 30 I had a Vauxhall Van right up my *** so I though as soon as the lights change I will boot it.
I was in a 2002 STi running a little over 300bhp. Now although it the van didnt overtake or anything it certainly didnt vanish from sight. I can only assume Vauxhall owners have some little tricks.....

Important thing is he didnt do you... It was only almost.

My mates a Vauxhall specialist and has just built a 2ltr turbo Corsa C using the engine out of the GSI turbo Astra. Its running a stage 3.5 conversion for 300bhp and is absolutely mental. There are 5 of these conversions in the country at the moment so it could have been one of these. On the other hand a 1.8sri with a properly sorted chassis would handle really well and accelerate well with them being pretty light weight.

A young kid will take all sorts of risks to beat someone, they don't think about the consequences....

I had an ancient Polo give me some grief a year or so back, 340 bhp STI. On closer inspection it had "Carlos Fandango" wheels and a turbo motor, even though it looked a shed. I stayed well away as he's likely to have no insurance, and thus not give a sh*t who he hits.

imho

Not a chance. No way a 1.8 SRi would get anywhere near a Scoob. They don't handle really badly, even as standard, but mid range torque is pretty pathetic.

They're also quite heavy for a small car.

My 1.7 corsa SRI diesal would outrun the 1.8 SRI petrol on motorways (177lbs/ft tourque) I sold it back to the dealership for cash, buyer waiting, apparently the new version is not as popular. The scooby's on a different planet compared to it though.
