what is a closed deck engine?

Default what is a closed deck engine?

hi i am looking for a engine and i have found one from a type ra from grade a subaru and it says its a closed deck engine what does that mean? it also says its stronger than the standard wrx engine is that right?

That is correct a closed deck block is a strong block. It is currently used by a few big tuning companies running high BHP cars such as RCM's Gobstopper.

wow,i never knew it meant that !

if someone asked me which was better for cooling,id almost always say the normal block,a closed deck just looks wrong for coolant,but obviously its not but id never of thought that !
