Default newbie could do with help on my boost gauge please

hi little help needed, i have not long got my first impreza its a gc8 95 import. iv gone straight into the deep end and done alot of work to it myself. iv fitted my front mount, fuel pressure regulator with gauge, 550cc injectors, fully decatted exhaust system from turbo back. walbro 225 fuel pump, induction kit due to not being able to put my air box back in because of intercooler pipes. new dump valve, uprated spark plugs and coils due to having a coil pack mess up on me. and a couple of other little bits. however the first thing i attemped after fitting my front mount was a boost gauge, simple im sure however due to my lack of experiance with the car i think i may have plummed it in wrong, or maybe my gauge is faulty not to sure, its a standard needle gauge going from zero to 30 psi plus or minus. where i have it in at the moment it reads minus numbers on tick over and goes back up towards zero when throttle is being used. could anyone help and tell me if i have it plummed in a suitable place, sounds silly im sure but lack of experiance with this car and only being a baby at 19. thanks very much

Dan

It should read minus numbers at idle, due to it being a vacuum in the inlet manifold. When you rev it, it should move up towards 0 and and into positive numbers as you make boost.

Is their not a blanked off terminal on the inlet manifold? That's what I plumbed mine into.

Not sure, but the vacuum is what drives the DV so good enough for me

If you're still on the standard turbo, you'll be fine.

If you have a look at Andy Forrest's site, it has good information regarding which modifications you require to reach certain power levels etc.
