Default SCOOBYSPRINT, A GOOD THING

Where are all the competitors thought there would be more entering at this late stage

Has making shootout a 5 event championship rather than just 1 a year event a good thing, i think it is but whats the general feeling about it cos people are normaly rushing to be entered at this stage

what are your thought guys

I'm toying with the idea of "playing out", good value if nobody else turns up and I get Elvington to myself.... Oh sorry forgot you were going !
I'm just worried about making a tw@ of myself in public ! Don't feel any great need to win any championships though.... not bl**dy likely is it ?

well I think its good value and personaly if I make a tw@ of myself so be it, but at least I can say I had a go plus its cheaper than what it would cost me to do the same in trackdays through the year the less people that turn up the more runs I can get in.
Dunx stop toying with the idea and get your name down mate

I think its like communism, great on paper but proving hard to get right.

Too little information to get cars ready at such a late stage, making it geographical (and hence financially) hard for anybody living in the deep south, too much bickering (even at this late stage) over rules and/or classes, too little trust for the organiser blah blah the list goes on.
I hope its a success for the competitors sakes

So far we have not entered this year for two reasons. Firstly and most importantly we are concentrating on putting a deal together for our 'proper' racing programme which obviously has to be our main priority and is not exactly easy in the current climate.

Secondly we don't feel we can better our third place from last year in the handling competition with a relatively standard car. Neither Tom or I feel it is a good use of resources to take part unless he is driving a car in which he can be more competitiive against cars like the Gobstopper.

Enter into the unmodified class & you wont be up against the big powered cars like the gobstopper.

3 classes

Unmodified is for standard cars

modified is for highly modified cars with full interior etc

unlimited is for stripped out fire spitting monsters

Irc that will make two of us so your not alone on a lighter side hopefully they will have more sand in the cones if its windy cos last year I gave up !!!!!! the track kept on changing and I for one drove my car there and wanted to drive back without a cone sticking out of my bonnet or worse

I'm doing Blyton soon with the WYIOC and that's about £40 for the day !

Just to put it in perspective, cost-wise.

i was very excited by it when i first heard, but unfortunately having 4 of the 5 rounds in York is just way too far to travel.

After doing Time Attack last year (in my clio) i didnt mind traveling far once or twice, as it was equalled out but tracks not 5 hours drive away.

But for every round to be so far, it means it costs alot (having to stay in hotel to avoid leaving at 3 in the morning) and takes up alot of free time (entire weekends rather than 1 day).

So for me, it just isnt viable, which i was rather gutted about!

what are your thought guys

For me the rules are not "black and white"

Plus the fact that my car although lightly modified will be put into a class that allows lots more freedom and hence to get anywhere ill have too spend loads.

how many std cars are there left? cant see many myself?

Other than that it ticks all the boxes

But there will be two sub-divisions, road car with some serious mods, and the nearly all out racers, "we" will have to admit defeat to the almost "Gobstoppers" and have our own fun....

imho

It would be no fun racing people with 100 horse more, mines got 280-290 tops.

Think ill just do a few track days instead.

BHP to a point dont really matter cos they will be very twisty tracks which i think will favour the 300bhp to 450bhp cars and it will be down to the driver for most part, i drove Ice Driver last year at shootout which only had 240bhp and i was only 0.4 secs behind some cars which had 450 to 500bhp and i came 16th overall so i believe its not all about the car, there will be some ok drivers in high powered cars & some very good drivers in standard or modified cars, at the end of the day, its like Dunx said admit defeat so to speak and enjoy the day and race against a mate or club members & you never know what might happen. Just enjoy

For those who are traveling a long way i will be able to get you cheap rooms at a country inn which is only 20mins from elvington if that helps some people to keep costs down

Which is exactly what we proved in 2008 by coming 3rd, the driver can play a much bigger part than the power or other aspects of the specification of the car. If you look at the time difference between my car and the Gobstopper in the qualifying stage of the competition when the track was twistier it was admirably close given one is a fully trimmed, mildly modified road car -v- a purpose built competition car.

1 round in Elvington was far enough, but 4 is a little too much. Travelling from the south each time is a nightmare.
