Thumbs up A happy/sad day next week....

Hi all,

The time has arrived. After 5 years of Impreza ownership, with a blobeye WRX and a Hawkeye STI spec.D, I'm leaving the Subaru marque. It's been great, but it's time to move away from the Subaru for me.

It was a hard choice what to replace the STI with, but I was after something a little purer, sporty and normally aspirated. The Scoob years have been perfect. Driving trips to Spain, France skiing resorts and the Imprezas have performed faultlessly. Not one single mechanical malady apart from one blown number plate bulb. Amazing reliability for such a quick and capable car.

I drove the 08 STI and was left rather cold by it. Very practical, but I have a big old barge for practical. It felt "woolly" and left me feeling a bit "disconnected" from the drive and didn't feel anywhere near as quick as my hawkeye (and this was a 330S!). Maybe I'll move back to Subaru one day, but there's nothing in the range that appeals to me right now.

The car I've chosen to replace the Impreza is a Z4M Coupe.
Wish me luck chaps.......

Nige.

PS: I'm still going to hang around here though if I'm allowed.........

Nice to hear someone leaving the marque without slating the car they raved about a few weeks earlier. Best of luck and enjoy the oversteer!!!

Thanks for the kind comments chaps.

Oh and it's the M coupe, not the soft top, so that invalidates the hairdresser jokes...

I'm looking forward to the new experience of high bhp/RWD and I'm sure it'll be "interesting" in the wet compared to my current/old car..!!

Colour wise I've gone for the Silver grey again. The spec.D was Crystal grey and I found it was very good for stealthily blending in to the background when it needed to. My WRBlue Impreza was scratched on every wing, yet (touch wood) I've not picked up a single mark in the spec.D. It also doesn't attract the attention of the BiB so much as a lairy colour. I'll post a pic or two when I get it I'm sure!

I didn't fancy a 911 as I was too concerned about the possibility of huge repair bills on an older car. On the M, I've got the remainder of the manufacturer warranty plus a BMW AUC warranty for twelve months, so I'm covered there.

I would never slate the Impreza as it's an amazing package for the money out of the box, let alone when it's tweaked and the full potential is unleashed. Truly great cars and one I wouldn't hesitate recommending to anyone looking for a very quick, yet practical car.
