Depends which one it was, and what power you're running (not pub figures either, genuine power)...

As a previous owner of a slightly modded Elise (S1 standard was only 118 bhp with rover K series lump), I had about 135bhp with decat/filter. A standard scoob 0-60 not much in it I wouldn't have thought, after that the scoob would eat it. These cars are not about power though or straight line speed. You really have to drive one to appreciate the chassis/handing. A real dream, and handled on par with my 'Blade engined Westfield. Not suprised you creamed him on a motorway!

PS They only weigh around 900ish Kgs too I think.

You'll blow any standard S1 Elise 118bhp away on a motorway as they're not motorway cars. They've not got much torque. But on a bendy dry road you'd get blown away. I've had several Imprezas and the only car I miss driving in is the Elise I had. A totally and utterly different car to an Impreza. Even though they're not a motorway car I used mine as a motorway commute and managed 49 mpg on NUL

great little go karts imo i was due to get one but she got caught pregnant so had it got put on hold (a few years now ).
but when the children have grown a bit then i might opt for an exige if they are still on the go .

the other half used to have an s1 standard elise....i loved it, but not much power in a straight line, was very quick off the mark and round bends it was an absolute joy.....
the only elise to give you some trouble would be the 111r or as said the exige, especially if it was the 240 version......

My mate has a standard lookin elise , but with a civic type R engine swop from a grey import did it all himself about 220bhp at a guess with some slight engine mods think the import type R is slightly more than the british one it goes like stink and does surprise quite a few cars on the track days he has done . Its a great engine conversion for such a light and great handling car .

I am six foot five and my mate bought an elise, he offered me a spin in it and i found it not too bad to get into but trying to get out was a different matter. I must of looked like a huge spider trying to crawl out of an awkward hole.
Not for me, the same really with a lot of low down sports cars....thats i bought a scooby
