Bought mine of ebay. Has all of the correct marking comes in a nice bag and even fit my mahooosive head. Only buy brand new of course. Paid £20 I seem to remember (wanted scooby blue but no stock) and when compared side by side with my mates £200 helmet frankly bar a couple of air holes there was no difference even he was impressed ..... or was that depressed at the price!

I usually mock people on PH and Porsche forums who talk boll*cks about fireproof limings and how car shells are massively different (they arent and a nomex lining makes no difference to anything), but Im not sure that Id want a £20 Chinese helmet.

Fair point but frankly they are rated to the same standards (german and UK) so they can't be all that bad!
If I was riding a bike and using one every day then I could justify £200 but I'd rather spend the extra £180 on other things considering the number of times a year my helmet will get used!

The bottom line is that for national motorsport in the UK, you need a BS Type A helmet and nothing more. You only need a Type A / Fireproof for international motorsports events.

To be fair my biggest problem was trying to find one to fit I think my nut worked out as xxxl which was a **** bag to find. The biggest prob is most shells are the same size with just less and less padding ! Any bigger though and I wouldn't have been able to sit up in my car ... and that's without a roll cage!

Full or open face helmet ???
I am just about to buy one, I know the full face will be safer but the open face will be more comfortable.
Don't fancy chinning the steering wheel, I reckon it's harder than me !!!!

I think it depends on your cars setup......ie with no airbag/decent cage and fixed back seats correctly mounted and 5/6 point harness install the need for a full face helmet is pointless....... but with standard seats, and belts i think a full face may suit better.
