I had a scoobysport on my MY99. IIRC, there were 2 types, a Heyward & Scott version and a Magnex(?)

I had the H&S version - just nice on tick over. On full-chat, all hell broke loose. But it wasn't a 'kin huge 4" pipe Jap thing. IIRC it was 2 or 2.5"......

Looked no bigger than the Prodrive one (not to be confused with the WR Sport)

Loved it.

H&S and Janspeed IIRC.

The Janspeed version was better finished than the original H&S, although the tail pipe used to protrude too much for my liking if you kept the original center pipe.

Hi Guys

Thanks to Jack, Puff, GW, and Shaggy for pointing this thread out for me

A quick catch up.

We had loads of problems with supply, quality, delivery, pricing, etc a while ago, and I shut down scoobysport pending having more time to do it properly, as it wasn't something i really felt proud of anymore.

We're only a small operation, and all we do is performance exhausts for subaru's, so if we couldn't even get that right, it was all a bit embarassing.

I'll give you the full rundown of the journey since then, another time, but to cut a long story short.. after about 3 years off-air, we are back

I'm not going to give you the full sales bull, as the product will be either well received or not, and I'll leave it to you all to decide.

I've just stopped taking orders for now, as we're ramping up production so we try to avoid running out of stock again, and we're listening to all the feedback from our customers in the mean time.

-

To answer some of your questions :

Thanks re the website. We've looked at everything, including detail such as making it REALLY easy to order. The checkout page is the slickest, fastest checkout page I've ever seen.. as I hate all the agro of "checkout, or continue shopping", etc, etc.

LOL @ Shaggy.. you should be on the books!!

Hayward & Scott or Janspeed?
This is the biggest change. We took the decision to take complete control of the design, raw material sourcing, manufacturing, logistics, etc, etc. as I really want everything to be perfect. The problem with using big companies like H&S or Janspeed, is that regardless of how great both companies are, you are only ever going to be one of the many things they do, and as such you'll never have their full focus and attention. Both make many products for many types of car, so we could never hope to be important enough to them to do everything exactly how we wanted to.

So.. me and a colleague have spent the last 12 months flying backwards and forwards to China, in order to set-up production out there. To be honest, we reached a couple of points where we nearly gave up, and I nearly started ordering from Janspeed again, but I'm glad we kept the faith, because having now sorted all the usual chinese pitfalls, the quality is the best we've ever seen, by far - and we can sell them for less than we used to buy them for AND make a little more profit at the same time!! Its just a big financial risk! gulp!

How loud, etc?
OK, I would advise anyone intersted to hang on for a couple of months, as we're going to do full back to back (standard to modded) high quality sound recordings, and db readings for all the systems on different car models. We'll publish all of this, so you'll have the hard facts.

BUT.. we include a resonator in the center section, and we played around with baffling in the back box for some time, to the point where I think there is the balance between it being pretty respectable when you're driving around, and not droning on the motorway like a lot of systems, but then it lights up when you start giving it death.

Regarding the photos.. standby.. we're getting much better photos up.

To be honest, we didn't expect to start selling so soon, and the demand has caught us on the hop a bit, so we're playing catch-up.

Thanks for being interested though guys.

Let me know any suggestions positive or negative, either on here, or by PM or email chat@scoobysport.com

Cheers

Simon

And if you happen to be developing an 08STI exhaust option I can provide a very willing car to connect it to

I've had a word & she'll keep it clean as long as she can have a good old blast with it...

I had a scoobysport exhaust from when I bought the car. It's bearable in the mornings as it gives a nice soft purr on idle so won't p*ss neighbours off and sounds great when giving it some beans. Mind you, getting a bigger exhaust soon

You see.. you couldn't let it lie could you!

-

shaggy

when are you expecting new stock simon?
I've had two options, which I've just taken a call on today.

option 1), get the stock dispatched now and get them here so we can start selling again asap. 2) hold off for a bit more feedback, and make some improvements that I really want to get in, as I (humbly) think they'll be perfect then.

I've gone with option 2, as it will also mean I can get bigger quantities ordered so we stand a better chance of looking after everybody!

Being totally safe, I would expect mid-may, and we'll be fully ready to rock
