Default 2.2L ?

can someone please explain how these can about.

My friend has a new scoob, which is a turbo 2000.

its a '97 and fitted with lurvely prodrive extras. but it says its a 2.2l

i have a turbo 2000 as do some of my other friends, but they are all 2l.

how come he has this engine ? is it normal.

Only the 22B came with a 2.2ltr engine, they are pretty rare things now, replacements are normally bored 2ltrs, but unless its been bored out, its probably a 2ltr.

he said he looked under the hood at the plate and it said EJ22. also says it on the logbook.

Well if the block says its an EJ22 then the chances are its an EJ22
It would have to be remapped to run properly though.

but how is it possible if it isnt a 22b.

if he had a engine transplant, would it say on the stamp?

cheers for the help so far. lol. he is quite confused

Could it be a transplant legacy engine? They did a 2.2 didnt they.

forgot to mention, he also said it had PPP stamped on the ecu aswel

How many doors does it have and is the code EJ22K?

And does it look anything like this bad ***?

it also has a tdo5 turbo, a coil pack which is in a slightly different place to 2 of his mates cars, a scorpion zorst, leather pro-drive seats, slightly lowered and a dino print out of 280.3 bhp

His is a green turbo 2000 ^. not quiet the same

Sorry I edited to add pics after you replied.

The pics are of a 22b EJ22k

I'm not sure, but I think the EJ22 was in a legacy as well so could it have had a new lump.

does the stamp and logbook get updated after a new lump is pit in.
I pressume the previous owner just bought the PPP upgrades himself then. or could have got some from new
