Default Hawkeye STI JDM information please

Lost touch over the past few years in the Scooby scene. Not paid attention to the new cars as I had V5's and 6's STI RA's and Blobeyes.

I know my classics and blobeyes but have not had anything to do with the 2.5 STI JDM spec cars.

Im looking at a 2006 STI JDM with low miles and standard spec (almost)
Its 340bhp, is that std spec?
The car has the twin scroll turbo, equal headers etc, Im sur this was std issue?

What should I look out for and what goes wrong with them, if anything.

Gimme the low down

Thanks

Jamie

All JDM hawkeye STis are 2.0 only the UK car is a 2.5 and 340bhp isnt standard they are nearer 300 with similar torque

Your probably looking at 320bhp standard on a JDM 2ltr twin scroll car, 340 is probably mapped for uk fuel, these normally push out more torque than a conventional 2ltr subaru due to the engine, they also have a stronger engine than the 2.5ltr cars and the power delivery is different, they are very easy to drive in 5th gear around town (25mph) and are more rev hungry, but have more character than a 2.5ltr, though that doesnt make the 2.5 a bad engine, just not as good

New age Scoobs are virtually bullet proof with the JDMs being the best of all, of course Get a white Spec C & you'll be the envy of your friends!

Thanks for the feedback.

Just shows how out of touch I am if I thought they were 2.5 and they are not!!
I will ask the question tonight and see if this one has been mapped. If not, I can get a MoTec stuck on it for peace of mind.

Whats the going price for these hawkeye cars now then??
This on is late 2005 with 12K on the clock and its £11K.
Blue with the mandatory gold wheels (in 19" form)
A few bits n bobs on it but nothing major and no engine alterations.

Sound okay??

Just found out that it has been mapped and that will be how it gets 340bhp.

So are these blocks semi closed deck still??
What power do you get out of the std engine/turbo with no changes to the internals? Only fuel ,air and exhaust and a map.
400 I presume??

UK & EU's are 2.5 rev to 7.2Krpm JDM's 2.0ltr rev to 8.2krpm IIRC

mine JDM sti with just a remap for UK fuel made 329bhp. was very quick but gave me no involvement as no soundtrack. Converted by litchfield to a Type20 with Miltek exhaust 350bhp

EcuTek remaps are fine for STD engines

IMHO

once you mentioned 2.0 twin scroll, has anyone tried new litchfield type20 turbocharger? is it really capable of 400hp without increasing lag?

I have it was in the MY08 Type20 and it was awesome .

IIRC it was running 396Bhp and yes lag was much less than my 350bhp MY06 T20

Most of the performance gains are from the new Turbo but the MY08 engine has quad cam VVT (previous model only twin cam) also has a more advanced ECU both will have contributed to performance gains.

IMHO IIRC

what sort of power will it make on 06 spec-c block with full de-cat exhaust, caik and 650cc? I plan to purchase this turbo in the near future, what esle would be reasonable to consider apart from things already on my car mentioned above? fuel rails? new ecu lile HYDRA or stick with ECUTEK? wat do u say?

IIRC

Should imagine 380-390 but BHP will be restricted by the STD Turbo

To go the next turbo up the inlet are larger and requires spacers lifting intake manifold up giving enough room for lager Diameter pipework to go between the headers and block.. 400-450 bhp mods dependant.

You reallty ought to look at shaun/exwebby projects/stages 1 2 & 3 which will give you a far better insight what to do and more importantly what not to do

Check shauns projects, set a goal and a budget see a mapper for suggestions for a "Kit" that works as a "Team" or you'll get a load of "performance" bits and empty pocket with loads more noise and far less bhp

a rough gestimate of cost form STD 2.0ltr spec C

about £2K to 400 bhp
about £5K to 440 bhp
about £10K to 500 bhp

IIRC IMHO
