Default Do Hawkeye STIs wear there mileage well?

The reason I ask is that I've done 33k in my 07 STI so far and 25 of that has been done by me in the last 12 months. She's a dream to drive but how will it be when I've done 90k in a couple of years time?

Has anyone here got a high mileage Hawkeye?

Mine's having a very easy life as it's mainly motorways with work that are taking up 80% of the miles. It only just had it's original tyres changed and the brakes still have about 5k in them. Whoever gets it after me will be getting a bargain!

Thoughts?

Hi
Just bought a 55 plate with 87k, full history (10 stamps in book) drives as well as my 16k Sti I sold earlier this year.
Engine sounds sweet, pulls cleanly, good tight gear change, no undue kloncks or knocks from suspention
Body condition obviously a bit on the grit blasted side and drivers seat small amount of wear on the edge.
Well happy with it at the moment.
Good luck dont think you have much to worry about.

Nice one, Oiler. As I thought really. I'll take mine up the the 60k mark and then see if it's worth me keeping it without a warranty on it.

Good to hear yours is going well

Thankfully I get 40p a mile back with work so 4k of my petrol is paid for while accounts for all of it plus a little back in my pocket

Mine has reached 32k since May 07 and hasn't any major bits, just a couple of niggly warranty items, despite being modified for most of its live.
Tyres lasted 25k, pads & discs were swapped to PFs at 1k miles and still have plenty of life.

Major gripe has been the shot blasting of the front end, both metal and bumper plastic.
It will be returned at 60k miles and I don't think I'll have a Subaru again, given the current choice. Perhaps a jag ZF diesel and an Impreza based kit car?

Mines just turned 2 years old and has 62,000 miles on the clock - 06 STi Spec D. I've had her from new and no problems at all.

Front pads changed at 30,000 and 60,000, front discs at 60,000, rear pads at 50,000. The usual rear strut problem meant the rear struts were changed at 30,000. No problems other than that TOUCH WOOD

I've had an 03 STi PPP which did 60,000 miles and an 05 WRX SL PPP which did 45,000. The MY99 Prodrive did 100,000 and my first scoob, a standard MY98 did 45,000

If you are doing high mileage and plan to keep the car, then look at taking a mileage extension out on your original warranty. If the car is under 60,000 miles and 2 years old (so still on the original manufactures warranty), the extension removes the 60,000 mile limit for another year. I've just taken it out on mine, just before her second birthday and the 60,000 service - so I have another year of full warranty with an unlimited mileage, all for £506.

That is well worth the peace of mind if in the current economic climate you don't fancy taking a massive hit in value on what is a high mileage 2 year old car. Of course, you can let the warranty finish and mod away to your hearts content, but if you are doing high mileage then, like me, the warranty is more important.

I might have a look at that but I may also trade her in at 60k which should be up in 18 months or so. It'll depend on what she's worth and what I want to do with it. I'd rather mod a car that I wasn't using all the time but I suppose we'll see.

What issue is this and how does it manifest?

STi's have a well known problem with the rear struts that manifests itself as a knocking noise from the rear, and also 'jolting' when coming to a stop. I had the problem on my 03 STi as well as the 06.

If you look in the "suspension" forum, and search in "general" its a well documented problem. Warranty will sort it.
