Default Cheap, or not quite right?

1999 SUBARU IMPREZA TURBO WRX TYPE RA WRC 555 V-LTD on eBay, also, Subaru, Cars, Cars, Parts Vehicles (end time 23-Nov-08 22:21:39 GMT)

Just browsing and found this. I know it isn't an sti but it's still good value for what it is.

Does anyone think it isn't what the seller is saying it is?

Yep does look okay mate, but is 3k not about the going price for anything like this just now ?? I think a lot of folk are automatically assuming something is wrong with cars priced low these days but as been seen time and time again unless these very cars are priced according to the current market then they just wont sell.

I've seen this too and felt it was too cheap. API website has a similar car for £7K.

The wheel puts me off. Be a bargain if it was truly a straight car.

Just had a look here and it's still a 280bhp lightweight model whether an R.A. or R.A. V-limited.

Presume is the strength of the engine, i.e. semi/closed deck block etc?

Does not stop the local jap import dealers selling cars for £6 / 7 k which struggle to sell for £3-4k privately.

I think the problem with the importers is that they bought their cars before the financial world imploded.

They have to ask £6K or £7K because they probably paid more than the current private value for the same car. For instance the RA at API was originally offered by the private seller for £8K. That was nearly 18 months ago when I sold mine. Now that a similar car is offered for £3K, API will lose money trying to sell their car for anything under say 6K - a price most people won't pay today.

As for the vehicle in question here, it is an RA so light weight panels but its a WRC limited so gets the blue seats (which I personally have a big love for)

If I knew that car was 100%, I'd buy it tomorrow.

The car is local to me, if you know where it is located I could pop down and have a look at it.

Correct, no forged pistons like sti. There is some info on sidc. Apparently the model to buy if it was to be turned straight into a rally car.

Regardless of the Credit Crunch or the fact that's it's just the Wrx version IMO that car is at least £2k under valued - Even more so to the trade ( Profit margins )

It's either the bargain of the winter OR It's .... a little bit dodgy . .

I can't see it being a replica as it looks the real deal, It's even numbered.

What else does an STI model benefit from of this age?

Forged Pistons
Forged rods?
Stronger gearbox internals?
Better clutch?

Anything else?

Again still say its just the state off the market, if it was too expensive no one would look at it, if its too cheap then its autmatically dodgy ??!! I think a lot off folk are just comming to terms with the fact that if they want a quick sale off these type off cars then they will have to sell them for what seems like bargain prices.

there is a "94 turbo near me, 51 on clock, one owner since import, only 5k in last four years as used as a fourth car. 4 door, white RA version.

price £3k !!

same type off cars are going in the local jap dealers for anything up to 6-7 k

Okay first search on google showed a slightly newer version with a higher mileage at 6k+

in my view 3k is not overpriced for a one owner since import standard 50k RA, what price u reckon they should be going for then ??

Calder Motor Co : SUBARU IMPREZA WRX STI RA LIGHT WEIGHT MODEL, VERSION 3 1996

Be very surprised to here what your local jap importdealers are shifting there cars out at ?? " any dealer asking 6-7k for a 94 ra is a numnut ??!! seems there are a lot off them up this area then !!!!

thats a 96 sti ra which does make it worth more, you said 94 ra, bit of a difference there....

v3 sti ra is worth more than a 94 wrx ra.

i paid £2000 for a 93 wrx grade 3.5 fresh from japan with 39000 miles, on the road, before the credit crunch. now the credit crunch has hit im convinced i could have done a lot, lot better for 2k. view my scooby <<<<<<

take a look in the for sale section for a car of simular age:

https://www.scoobynet.com/private-sa...-import-2.html

struggled to sell it.

there again with the new road tax changes / petrol costs and overall down turn in the performance market if these same companies will be around in a year from now could well be a different matter !!

nope appreciatte what you are saying mate would never personally pay this sort off money for cars off this age especially now the price off 4-5 year old wrx/sti` etc have fallen so much but if I were in the market for a car off this year I would certainly at least look at a one owner "94-ra with such a low mileage, advertised at 3k must be room for a bit off movemnet from there ??

would also be interested to here just how much the same cars that this dealer up here in scotland has are selling for in jap dealers south off the border ??
