Sold my Type R over a year ago now for the asking price...
If its in good condition and looked after, it'll sell... Prices of Imprezas are all over the place...
Good classics are priceless , all the newage stuff is dropping like mad... If they carry on dropping as they are, i'll be getting a Blobeye Sti with 6 speed box, ripping the 2 litre out and fitting a 2.5 on the cheap for 400bhp/400lbs lol
Christmas is never a good time to sell though

Tried Ebay and another place. Was offered £4k a month ago or another deal with a Golf gti. This time the best offer attracted was £3k on Ebay. Think I'll bung it on autotrader for £4250 with full tax.

I think good cars will always sell, just takes a bit of time in the current climate.
Just sold my mrs' Audi TT, it was mint with all the right bits, 18" wheels, bose stereo, etc - advertised at £7,500, sold for £7,000
Had loads of interest in my scooby and it's only been advertised on here, keep getting PM's from people making offers, then I hear nothing from them again !!
If mine doesn't sell for sensible money then I'll keep it and enjoy it, I'm in no rush to sell anymore as the Audi going has bought me some breathing space.

I have just put my M/Y 02 WRX STi UK Prodrive in Autotrader.
So far I have had a call from some agent saying he had a customer.............some sort of scam, about ten calls from Cardata who have been told to **** right off and two scammers, probably Nigerians wanting to give me a bankers draft for more than the asking price. One is a Mrs Wilson, Angela to her friends who claims to live in Guernsey and the other was a Paul Simon. I told him to get back up his tree.

Whenever I advertise a car on autotrader I always get inundated with scammers and "car data" type places.
I can't beleive that "car data" or whatever they call themselves are still going, they've hassled me everytime I've sold a car since around 1999. Obviously some people are still falling for their sales pitch. Surely watchdog or someone should shut the ******* down!

been trying to sell my v3 sti in white for a few weeks now, been in pistonheads and autotrader. my car is in mint condition, and i mean mint. only done 43000mls and had new clutch and cambelt just done, im only asking £4300, which is a f*****g bargain considering, not had one viewer, not one! had 2 timewasters asking millions of questions but not actually coming to see the car. if your that interested u ask lots of questions then view the car, but no. im starting to think i will never sell it and its down to the current state the country/world is in financially, christ i sold my 99 classic about 18 months ago for £5500 and it wasnt a patch on my sti. the world has gone mad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sold the Silver Import I had for the price I paid for it. Yeah I had sorted the turbo/intercooler problem. Nothing major, just dirty finger nails for a few days lol

One cheeky sod asked if i would take £1200 without him seeing it.
It may cost to readvertise but stick to your realistic price. Everybody over rates their cars, its a fact.
If you reach the price you are happy with then either start the bidding at that or disclose in your auction/advert.
Eventually the right buyer come along and bought the car for the price we wanted and was happy with.

Comming up to Christmas...also the credit crunch will nto help with any sale at present...little like selling a house..a big reduction in price will bring the buyers to you..
but saing that if i did not have a car...i would be out there looking and will buy one regardless..as the need would be there for one...i am sure there are many others who are int he same boat

I'm thinking of selling mine, either quickly now or after new year. I'm miffed though at the price drop, especially in classics when you consider how many of these are written off or broken. It's very disheartening to know your not going to make much on it, so i'm sort of trying to talk myself out of it lol.
I'm also convinced that one day classics will be a treasured car with fewer and fewer on the roads each week.

The market is not going mad as such but correcting itself. Since say 1998 prices of houses, goods, etc have continued to go up at steep rates. Eventually there would be a re evaluation and the credit crunch has done that. It will get worse before it gets better. If you can afford to keep then do that if not sell as fast as you can as it will take a good while before things recover.

If you want to sell, sell now !! because in 3-6 months things will be worse & values will be less anyway.
It is relative, if you get less for your car, you will get another for less money aswell (like the property market I guess)

Sold our 53 plate UK blobeye WRX for the asking last month, but it took a lot of work. The days of sticking an ad in autotrader and waiting for the punters to fall over in the rush are over.
Lucky we know someone in the trade who agreed to forecourt the motor with warranty and finance facilities. He even made a small profit for himself.
Have to admit, even he said we were lucky, very lucky.

If you guys think it is bad now, wait for another 6-12 months!
The current financial traincrash is far from hitting people at full pelt. A lot of people will be under threat of redundancy in the new year, which I think we all know it coming. No jobs means no money and no money means major cutbacks.
People 6 months ago could not believe they were "only" getting prices they thought were bad then...... 6 months on I bet those same people thank their lucky stars they got those prices, compared to what the market stands now.

Why not adopt the American approach?
Those guys LOVE the older cars.
Scoobies are great cars - Probably the last of their type to be manufactured in todays climate. I'm on Scooby #2 a 2004 PPP WRX - I pretty much will always extend warranty (900 GBP last year for 2 years cover) Once I hit 45 years of age I'll divert the warranty fund to UPGRADE fund. Decat, Turbo upgrade etc.....
