You should be able to change the indicator relay, not sure if a ford one will fit. I own a ford and a scooby so I will compare the pair and let you know.

Don't all these newer cars use the CAN databus system now. Gone are the days of directly operating an indicator. You moving the indicator tells a control unit that you have made an input, then the main microprocessor sends a signal to the indicator lamp control module, it flashes, the control module tells the main microprocessor it's doing it's job, the main man then outputs a signal to the dashboard, the dashboard then gives the driver confirmation.
Slightly different than just putting power to a relay via the indicator stalk. Saying that, it shouldn't be too difficult for someone with a bit of electrical knowledge to knock something up out of a couple of relays, capacitors etc to do what you want.
