Today i fought against a RS4 in highway...not properly the best field for a scoob.MIne is a MY 98 full exhaust system , K&N panel and 98 oct fuel: no problem till 180km/h (which is about your 113mph)but then... no story.Fairly until 160km/h(100mph) my acceleration was faster but i wonder what would has happened if i was driving something like a P1 or a STI7 modified as mine

I have been up against the RS4 in my older MY93 and my current MY99 STiV, The RS4 once roling is good in a straight line, I have also owned 4 S" Turbos and believe me their strength is mid range torque. MY 93 was slightly modified 260 bhp and was ok till 100mph then the RS4 quite simply blew me away!!
The STiV is a different matter upto 140 the RS4 was firmly in the rear mirror.

www.rs4.org Interestingly the Scoob is not listed as one of its rivals... Inshort 0-60 4.7sec, 0-100 11.whatnot, top speed 169 so P1s might have a bit of trouble! The thing is 48grand.

Cool

I dont think he was trying mate. The 0-60 on the RS4 is nearer 5 seconds IMO, the Jap WRX is definately quicker to 60, but from third gear (70-80ish) onwards it is different class, sorry cant see an STI5 beating it to 140!!!

Anyone want to buy one?..........

I owned an RS4 for 9 months before taking delivery of Sti7 prodrive a couple of weeks ago.....
I'm still running the sti in at the moment, only 300miles to go, so
I can't give a 100% comparison in terms of speed and power, what I
can say, is that the general handling has totally impressed me, especically in comparision with the 4, its a lot lot better, the sti would def have the edge on the winding stuff, which is considerable praise for the sti as the RS4 wasn't bad by any means... but then I think everyone had already guessed that....
The straight line power & acceleration of the RS4 was stunning, but
I have faith in the Sti, with a few mods, like the expected PPP and/or a de-catted exhaust, I do honestly believe that the Sti
would keep with if not slightly ahead upto about 120mph, after that the RS4's wonderfull V6 engine would just go on and on and on....
Best moment in the RS4.... cruising at about 90, totally clear road, putting foot down in 5th, and being at 140 in a matter of seconds..... with lots more to go aswell....
Final comment, the RS4 is in my eyes, THE grand tourer, my Sti, with the new 18" oz's next week, PPP and/or exhaust mods, will be
an out and out drivers car... not a gt...

Gtsi- Did you find the RS a little too stiff on the twisty stuff?

(Dizzy- Yes, bought it in Nov as a mile muncher, haven't really had chance to do much with it yet, but may have to say goodbye as it looks like I'm gonna be shafted on my bonus at work)

Na...I actually found a little to the opposite.
The steering and the 6sp box seemed a little *gooey*, not as
precise as out & out drivers cars should be...
Thats one of the reasons why I think the Sti would keep up
with the 4 upto and over 100mph, its traction, steering and gear change, is just that little bit more precise and quicker...

Cool

First mod, was to fit a quick shift, which made aload of difference. I feel the set up is too stiff for sharp/tight corners and more suited to longer sweeping bends. Awesome car but without the grin factor of the scoob!!!

Hi all,

I did not mean to say that the RS4 aint quick.... I should come clean though because my StiV is running 1.24 boost with full 3.5 inch jasma system and SUS induction. To be honest it runs a little too quickly and I am considering getting the ECU replaced for a more reliable setup. I guess the BHP figure to be around 325bhp which gives 253.9 bhp/ton whereas the RS4 is 237 bhp/ton. Simply maths .....

Cheers
