Also get your wife to not answer and just let it ring and then 1471 and only ring back numbers she knows...
Best thing I think you can do is answer the phone and if they say stuff just laugh they will soon get tired of trying it if they get no result on the other end of the phone..
Why people get kicks out of scaring people I dunno? maybe it makes them feel big...
Also it is wise to only give out email address in advert until the buyer has emailed you asking for more info etc and then you can email them your number.
I know this is a bit late but might help someone else?
Hope you get it sorted.

hey thats great about BT withholding calls if they withhold their number. Sick of companies calling day and night flogging stuff. They always withhold their number so you can't call them back and let rip after they've called you at 8:30PM flogging you some credit card etc.

Ring up BT on 150 - they'll give you the number of a company which will stop you getting marketing calls. If you still get them you can get them fined for not abiding by it...
If it's nuisance calls then BT can, as someone above said, block all calls with the number withheld.

How about just giving your work no.
Or there is also a digital display you can get which tells you the number that is calling you. Then if its witheld let it ring and if its the in-laws let it ring too.
Two problems solved.
