The re-map route is very good but as stated other mods need adding.
1. A new/better panel filter/CAIK.
2. Uprated fuel pump, Walbro/STi.
3. Upgrade the brakes, may just be pads and/or discs.
4. Consider a better exhaust/de-cat, loud does not equal better!.
5. A newage TMIC (it's bigger and there are loads about and they fit easy).
It can all be done for less than £1k and the results are very good. BUT, get that insurance quote first.

am i right in saying you can get anti lag when you get remap? can it do damage to the engine, and is it alot more to get it?
one more question , what other supporting mods would be worthwhile when i get a remap?

i think you need a new ecu for anti-lag, i might be wrong though someone else should be able to correct me if so anyway. its upto you what other mods you want, people put other mods on first so they dont have to map there car again. it just works out cheaper thats all. such as if you have your car mapped now then two week down the line put a new turbo on etc you would have to have it mapped again.

well i have seen people with uprated fuel pumps and a 3 port solenoid? if thats right. im not looking for a new turbo and such yet, perhaps next year ill consider it, but then id be happy to do a new map with the new turbo, a second time round. would i gain much by putting bigger injectors in ?

your standard injectors are good for 300bhp and you won't reach that without a new turbo, your turbo is realy at its max at around 280bhp. so id leave the injectors untill you get a turbo mate. if your not getting a turbo untill a later date then id get a fully de-catted exhaust, uprated fuel pump, filter, maybe a boost solinoid and a remap. that should get you around 280bhp. then when you get your turbo youl need injectors, fpr and a new intercooler if needed depending on the size of turbo.
