well as ive stated, you have fitted a bigger turbo then therefore producing more boost which your ecu cant cope with ide say bud
not all wagons had the td04 i dont think
pre 96 uk wagons were fitted with td05

lol... powerwrx, he has fitted the turbo and ecu from the saloon to the wagon so yes burbling1 it should work.
you may have put some of the vacuum pipes on wrong or removed the restrictor in the bottom pipe from the boost solenoid? Look also for split hoses and lose pipe... just starting with the basics.
you could adjust the actuator arm if its an adjustable which it is on some TD05s.

restrictor is found in the bottom pipe on the 3 port boost control solenoid which is over on the drivers side front suspension turret.... it looks like a small cylinder with three pipes coming from it. The bottom pipe is the one with the restrictor and this pipe connects into the black resonator box on the intake trackt (although it can vent to atmos if resonator box has been removed for the like of an induction kit) Ive never found it easy to tell if theres a restrictor in there but if its the standard pipe it should still be in there (as opposed to being changed for silicon hosing) but if you remove it you can blow through it and should be able to tell that its not letting it flow as much as should, therefore restricted
Decat exhaust and induction kit could cause the overboost when running the standard un-mapped/chipped ecu, although as fas as i know the Z4 is more accepting of thoes mods.
might of got more response if posted in the general technical section for future reference

fuel cut is there to protect your engine from overboosting... too high boost can have a bad effect on your engine. too much air for the standard fuel system to cope with will make it run lean, too high boost for the turbo will give just hot air, high pressure is too much for standard interals to cope with ect... fuel cut defender is removing the saftey feature its there for a reason
your just avoiding the fact your setup is not correct if you just mask your problems this way.
